Expensive, service patchy, despite the numerous staff.

We both had a panzenella salad one with salmon the other with chicken. The tomatoes were over ripe and mushy in texture, and mine had excessive croutons to bulk out the modest salad - chicken over
cooked and dry.

Best part of the meal was the deserts sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and white chocolate creme brulee.

We were on a DBB package, and expected to charge all the dinner to the room, so that allowance could be deducted, no, we had to sign a bill for the whole thing and also pay the excess on a card. A recipe for a disaster _ yes on check out we were asked to pay the excess again, explained what had happened, and they said they would oʻsort it out. No such luck when we got home, we get a phone call saying we had left without clearing the excess, could we do so!

Explained everything again, including having to describe the staff at reception and the restaurant so they could check. We await the outcome

It got very loud as the restaurant filled up

The food is bad, overpriced and not good.

I ordered the scotch egg and it was served over a coleslaw and was incredibly salty.

Then for the main I ordered the Dry aged Sirloin steak, it was the cheapest cut full of gristle. Very poorly butchered cut of meat and it was not seasoned at all. No sauce no seasoning, just a bland piece of meat. Not worth the £34 that I begrudgingly paid.

We had planned to celebrate our anniversary with a special dinner and decided to book a table at the hotel’s 1705 restaurant.

Unfortunately, the experience was far from what we had hoped for. The restaurant lighting was so dim that it was difficult to even read the menu. While I appreciate the importance of ambience, this felt uncomfortable rather than atmospheric. When I politely asked if we could be seated at a table with better lighting, I was abruptly told “no” because those tables were supposedly reserved—despite the fact that they remained empty throughout the evening.

After ordering mocktails, we were left waiting for 30 minutes before being told that the staff were still “looking for the ingredients.” Feeling parched, I requested some still water, but even that took time to arrive. The lack of attention and basic hospitality was unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. At one point, I couldn’t help but feel as though we had stepped into a scene from Fawlty Towers. Nearby tables sat uncleared for over an hour, leaving the entire area looking neglected and uninviting—completely contrary to the polished impression given on the hotel’s website.

The situation worsened when a family arrived with a dog that barked continuously, adding to the disruption. By this stage, we were already feeling upset and uncomfortable. When our food finally arrived—after another 25-minute wait—it proved another disappointment. The chicken was overcooked, tough, and unpleasant to eat. As someone who has always supported the hospitality industry and understands the challenges it faces, I was dismayed at the lack of even the most basic standards.

Expected a higher end restaurant but food was average. Ran out of chicken breast for the salads which was a shame. Not the atmosphere I expected, lots of families with kids in and out.
Staff were lovely but service was slow. Dined on a Thursday evening at 8 so maybe they were short staffed. Took 2 hours for just salads and desserts.

We spent the night at the DeVere Beaumont and didn’t really want to leave the estate to find a meal. We took advantage of their restaurant and were worried about the reviews we read online.

Our experience from arrival to end were great!! As a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (10yrs and 5yrs) we were warmly welcomed on our arrival by the friendly staff.
Quickly shown to our table, we were settled in nice and were given menus right away. The kids menu had a decent and fair choice of meals.
Staff were friendly and attentive at all moments. They interacted in a polite manner and always made the kids smile and feel welcome.
Nice choice of wines here. They were able to recommend a good accompaniment for the individual plates.
The kids meals were a good size for both ages. We did have to give my older son a little extra from our own plates but that was fine.
Food in general was good and had a nice fresh flavour to it all.
The large salads are big enough to enjoy as a meal.
The general ambiance and feel of the restaurant is smart but relaxed. It is nice to be able to have a place that kids are welcome to eat at.

Really nice restaurant with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. We stayed at the Beaumont Estate for a week and had dinner at the 1705 Restaurant multiple times after a long day of activities. We cannot think of much that can be improved to the food.

From the starters we had the cauliflower & scallops, broccoli & stilton soup, crab arancini and parma ham & fig crostinis. From the main we had the roasted lamb with couscous, pork belly with mash, gnocci, risotto and baked cod. Everything tasted delicious. From a nutritional point of view there is a bit of lack of vegetables in the main dishes, but side veggies such as broccoli, asparagus and french beans can be ordered. All very good.

The restaurant also serves burgers and pizzas that seem to be popular with families with young children. We did not try any of these and would certainly recommend their more sophisticated dishes anyway. We also did not try any desserts.

A minor point for improvement: The staff could be a bit more engaging with the customers as almost all guest are probably visiting the surrounding attractions throughout the day. This is an easy opportunity to connect with them.

We are very happy customers and would certainly eat here again when in the area.

Had a couple of nice meals here during my stay, both in the restaurant and in the bar area. Great atmosphere, good food with a nice variety of options on the menu, including some vegetarian options. Very friendly, helpful staff. Pleasant experience during both visits.

Just dined at this establishment and was bitterly dissapointed with the quality of the food that came out. The game pie was a joke, the pastry seemed like it was frozen, felt like the meat filling was heated in a microwave and the pastry top was just placed on at the end, the meat inside the pie was dry and overcooked and of bad quality ( also a bone in the pie) served with mash and some cabbage very dry main which we didn't finish. Left feeling hungry and disappointed. The redeeming feature was the service from the staff
