Tried to change an old £20 note as I don't live here and was visiting a friend, brought money I'd had left over from literally two years ago. Did not know they'd changed to polymer. And most certainly didn't consider the adamant refusal to exchange my perfectly legal tender for new legal tender. I was shunted from here to a local Lloyds to a post office all deeply unhelpful, all refused to change it.

Felt like a money launderer. Told I had to open an account. I don't live here why would I want an account? Thanks for being so helpful and friendly to a tourist dumb enough to want to spend money in your locality in the first place. Absolutely mind boggling and extremely frustrating pointless red tape and provincial bureaucracy at its worst.
