Since getting stung years ago by a car hire company, ultimately paying for damage I didn't cause, I have always got excess cover just in case. ReduceMyExcess is far cheaper than the main vehicle hire companies. I found their website easy to navigate and the terms easy to understand. When I had a question, their team were quick to respond.

I had to make a claim for the first time recently, and it was easier than expected. The car hire company (in an effort to get me to pay for their overpriced excess cover) previously told me it's not unusual for claims with other companies to take a year. I'm glad I didn't take their advice, as the process with ReduceMyExcess was quick and painless- after claiming, the funds were in my account within a couple of weeks.

I will continue using this company whenever I hire vehicles. Highly recommended.

I made a claim 4 week's ago as a fox ran out in front of a hire van and the bumper was damaged. I emailed ReduceMyExcess all of the requested paperwork from the van hire company with my claim including my bank statement showing the amount charged by the van hire company. ReduceMyExcess emailed me a couple of week's later asking for a photo of the damage. I called ReduceMyExcess using the number on the email 4 week's after making the claim. The call handler said it should have been assessed within 5 working days but had been held up as the assessor wanted to know why I had hired the van? I told him why and he said he would pass that onto the assessor but he couldn't promise how long it would take until I receive compensation. The call handler was unprofessional and I could hear laughing in the background. I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY AND WILL NOT USE AGAIN.

These details made the claim process much smoother for me.

A company that automatically renews subscriptions without consent, fails to issue refunds in a timely manner despite initial promises, and lacks reliable customer service channels like phone, email, or online chat is incredibly frustrating to deal with. It raises significant concerns about trusting such a company when it comes to resolving issues and handling finances responsibly.
I would suggest anyone who experiences this request a dispute with there bank

Very helpful when our flight was cancelled at short notice and we lost our holiday. Fortunately we were able to rebook shortly thereafter and , due to he circumstances, Reduce My Excess were willing to reissue their insurance at no extra cost.

Months of emails and they still haven't responded to a minor claim. My rental car was scratched in Spain. I assumed it would be straightforward to get this covered. Don't use this company. They are evasive.

I have had this policy a few years and it definitely gives peace of mind when hiring cars abroad. We recently had an accident and I found ReduceMyExcess excellent. I was able to speak to someone on the phone easily and they were helpful. The claim process was efficient and my claim was paid promptly.

In the USA visiting family unexpectedly needed to rent a car. Sarah most helpful and efficiently upgraded my cover to Worldwide+ including facilitating payment. Fortunately have yet to make a claim but grateful to have peace of mind and save rental company at desk excessive insurance charges.
