AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.
LATEST UPDATE 30TH MAY
Yep you've guessed it. Still no resolution to getting my late father's pension transferred to my personal pension. Phoned last week. I was on the phone for an hour. The employee kept going off to ask for advice and then returning after a few minutes. I was told this would get resolved and I would receive a phone call. Obviously this didn't happen. It never happens. I'm at my wits end after 2 years of dealing with these idiots. I'm now retired and really could do with the money but no idea when this will ever get sorted.

This company is/was also known as James Hay Partnership. A company that after nearly two years of messing our family around with my late Father's pension, is still no closer to getting anything sorted. Every time we phone we get told another form is in the post - someone has missed some details off - and every time we fill the forms out and send them back in. They obstruct any progress on the matter by telling everyone that they cannot tell each of us who is the culprit of said missing information. I now honestly think this company is a scam, or struggling financially (I wonder why the sudden name change..?!) - either way they have stolen hundreds of thousands of pounds and are not interested in giving it back.

I would strongly recommend anyone choosing a SIPP provider looks through the reviews here, because I can see many others have had all the same sorts of problems we have had with James Hay – a lazy and incompetent company that seem to take full advantage of the difficulties any customers will have in moving to another provider. Even the Chief Executive, Richard Rowney cannot be bothered to get his staff to respond to complaints.

We chose a SIPP to purchase commercial property for our pension income with a different company that were good, then unfortunately for us, James Hay purchased this company. We kept a large sum of money in cash to purchase an industrial unit, but James Hay made us jump through so many hoops before they would even instruct a solicitor (including insisting on surveys and a valuation) that the vendor lost confidence and sold to someone else. Even when James Hay finally had instructed the solicitor - the instruction was to pay three times the sum agreed to purchase the building! The result is we lost £6,000 in costs and James Hay did not bother to even reply to our complaint in the statutory 8 weeks.

Generally awful - high staff turnover means you never talk to the same person twice, I have had 2 (upheld) complaints with them. I would love to move my SIPP from this useless company but unfortunately due to sky-high exit costs I can't. Avoid them and take your money elsewhere

Really incompetent pension administrator. The customer service is absolutely terrible and they cannot perform basic tasks and constantly give incorrect information. It is like pulling teeth getting anything done and this has been my experience since I have been with them. I am looking around for a reliable alternative.

Absolutely dreadful company to deal with, no response to general queries, constantly dealing with different members of staff who routinely blame the last person you spoke to for not doing what you have asked. Sadly there are not many companies that do what they do so I guess they rely on the fact you cant really go anywhere else. If I ran my company like this we would be bust ! Avoid at all costs ! (unless you really have nowhere else to go)

Unresponsive. Unhelpful. Evasive. Inaccurate. Eventually the manager was partially helpful, but there is still an unresolved problem, and now I get no response whatsoever.

I wish I had never set up my account with James Hay. Nothing seems to work the way it should, their processes are ridiculous. AVOID
