I had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience at the HSBC Brixton branch. I went in to open a basic bank account, which is legally allowed for US citizens with the correct documentation. Despite having all the necessary documents, including proof of address (since my immediate family resides in the UK), I was met with dismissive and unprofessional behavior from the staff.

The employee I dealt with was not only unable to provide clear answers about the required documents but also contradicted the information I had received from another branch. When I tried to explain the situation, the staff member became rude, even going so far as to make unfounded accusations and completely misinterpret my intentions. He also spoke in broken English, making the entire process confusing and unnecessarily difficult.

The level of unprofessionalism and disrespect I experienced was shocking. As someone who has opened bank accounts in multiple countries, this was by far the worst customer service I’ve encountered. This individual’s behavior reflects poorly on HSBC as a whole and is likely to drive customers away. It’s unfortunate that employees like this are allowed to represent the bank and create such negative experiences for clients.

I strongly recommend training staff properly and ensuring they have the knowledge and professionalism to assist customers instead of treating them disrespectfully. I would urge HSBC to take action and ensure such poor service is not repeated in the future.

I don't go there really much but it used to be base on the other side of Brixton road where l used to go long time ago, the new Brixton branch it a bit small inside to be honest with you. But it all right.
