It is unusual to be reviewing an estate agency when you have neither bought nor sold a property using their services. We are trying to sell my mother in law’s house in Wales, it is already on the market with a local Welsh estate agent. It has been up for sale for 9 months and the viewings have ground to a halt despite two asking price reductions. We were considering putting the house up for auction to ensure we could continue to pay the care home fees in the future. On an off chance we called into Spencers Estate Agents, Ringwood, with the sole purpose of asking which was the best month to place a property up for auction. Abigail, Matt and Kirsty gave us almost an hour of their time and expertise. They reviewed my mother in law’s property listing on Rightmove and gave us their honest opinion. Then, starting with the brochure, layout on the website, number of photographs to include, quality of the photographs, bullet point lists of the property’s best features, length of written descriptions, inclusion of room measurements on the plan of the property, the best search engines to use, WiFi speed, length of contract etc, they took us through every aspect to consider when appointing an estate agent. We were hugely impressed at their thoroughness, professionalism and very grateful to them for giving us their time and knowledge. It was a bit like looking from the inside out.

I made initial contact with Spencers (as well as other agents) in November last year when considering a relocation from London to the New Forest area. Matt Cowley returned my call and we arranged for him to conduct viewings on a number of homes one afternoon. I found Matt to be competent and professional in his approach. His style is very relaxed, courteous and respectful. When doing the viewings with Matt I could see that his clients were engaged with him and liked his company. Although we did not buy a home through Spencer's i found their way of doing business better that most of the other estate agents we met. Additionally Matt introduced us to homes on their books that were not on Rightmove or had just come on to the market. Matt is very good at what he does.

We chose Spencers (Ringwood) in the first instance as they were clearly very New Forest orientated and seemed to have a friendly, helpful team - we weren't disappointed. Throughout the process they were proactive in keeping us up to date so that we never had to contact them to see what was happening, they maintained the momentum throughout the deal, staying in regular contact with the buyers and their solicitors, ensuring that the bumps in the road that occurred were sorted out as quickly as possible. We certainly feel that Spencers made the whole process easier for us and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them if you're considering selling.
