I am waiting on my Account Number from the post Office though.

I got my Account open and I am happy with this bank for quick service they provide.

My mother has had money stolen from her Victoria Mutual account and it closed down without her knowledge. I've been waiting for the past few months to recieve a reply from them and nothing. One of the staff at the Tottenham branch has preyed on my mother and nothing is being done.

Absolute incompetent staff and service!
I've had an ongoing issue with money transfers between VM and JN for 3months which is leading me to question the integrity of this company. The staff are awful and unprofessional, why work in accounts if you have no clue! The service is time consuming and frustrating. Avoid at all costs! You will only pay more financially and mentally!

I cannot comprehend why such a simple process like obtaining a bank account has to be riddled with unnecessary steps.

Jamaica is trying to encourage investment from third generation Jamaicans living overseas, but yet I need to produce two references to open a bank account from two of the following: applicants Employer, Judge, Police Officer, Army Officer, Employee of VM Group, Existing account holder, Minister of Religion, Accountant, Solicitor, GP/Doctor, High Commission etc.

Surely proof of my address, driving license and passport should be sufficient evidence. Even 6 months bank statements from a UK bank. But no, you want referees which have absolutely no relevance in proving identity nor in reducing the risk of fiscal crime.

I can only obtain an employment reference, who happens to be the British Government however this is still insufficient to prove I am of ”Good Character”.

I understand the need to have certain safeguards in place but not at the risk of hindering legitimate custom.
