Review of Wheel Protectors (Gators) and Service Experience
I recently had my wheels refurbished and opted to have gators fitted to protect them from damage. Initially, the wheels looked great, and I was satisfied with the service. However, things went downhill quickly:

Immediate Damage: The day after picking up the car, the first gator was already damaged. This was concerning since the car was driven under normal conditions.

Progressive Deterioration: Over the next six weeks, all the gators broke down. Importantly, the car wasn’t even used for three of those weeks due to the Christmas holiday period. Despite minimal use, the gators didn’t hold up.

Removal and Vendor's Response:
When I returned to the shop, the gators were removed, and I was given an explanation:

They offer "a protective layer only" and are meant to "reduce the amount of damage."
I was also told that two of the gators were damaged in a way they had "never seen before," implying that my driving style or conditions caused unusual damage.
Design Flaws in Real-World Use:
While they may work in some environments, it’s clear these gators aren’t designed for real-world driving conditions, particularly in a city like London where narrow road entrances and tight junctions are common. I heard two of the gators squealing as I navigated such roads, suggesting they weren’t built to withstand typical urban driving stresses.

Conclusion – Buyer Beware
If you’re considering gators for wheel protection, be aware that they might not provide the durability or level of protection you expect, especially if you regularly drive in urban environments with tight or narrow spaces. In my case, they failed to last even a short period under normal driving conditions. The supplier has taken the view that this is due to my negligence and not product fault.

Excellent service from a professional and friendly team. I'm very pleased with the paintwork completed on my Jaguar. It looks like a new car! The alloy (imitation split rim) wheels also look like new. I would recommend to anyone looking for bodywork or wheel refurbishment to be carried out on their vehicle. A courtesy car was very useful too.

Great local business! Super easy to book in after getting a really good quote for my scuffed alloy.
Lots of excellent communication throughout the process.
Added on a Valet at the last minute and they were very accommodating! The car was ready hours before they said it would!
The wheel is PERFECT! And came back to a nice clean car as well.

So whilst I didn’t end up using Ace Car Care I felt it only right to leave a review down to the customer service and consideration I received. I had my new car booked in for a wrap but due to a complication on my part I had to cancel even though they did try to rejig their schedule for me. They were very considerate and even refunded my deposit. For me this speaks volumes towards a businesses integrity. I wont hesitate in using them in the future should the need arise. Sat at the car wash 4 hours after collecting my car from ace and thought I'd give my feedback, for what it's worth.

From my initial message through to collecting my car the whole service and experience was outstanding. I got a call back too my enquiry to explain the options in full, got booked in and was welcomed by the ladies in reception.

I had a call during the process to explain how things were going and to offer some more services which I took.

After a couple of hours now driving the engine and gearbox are working much smoother and delivering more pulling power.

It's not very often now a days that you come across a company who deliver what they say and get the service and experience right fist time.

I recently had some paintwork repaired on my Mercedes E220 AMG Convertible, when a king person damaged the rear offside bumper whilst parked. I visited Ace Car Care for a quote, which I accepted and booked my car in. In the run up to the date my car was due in with them, I had daily messages reminding me of my appointment and informing me if I was unable to make the agreed date, I could amend it. I took my vehicle in and was advised I would get a call at 3pm to give me an update on the repair. I left my vehicle and returned home to get on with work, and as promised at 3pm I had a phone call to advise my vehicle would be ready for collection at 5pm. I collected my car at 5pm that day and was delighted with the quality of work done to my car, which left it looking like new again. Very good service, with Ace Car Care certainly going that extra mile for the customer. If I ever need their services again, I will without doubt use them. Highly recommend them 🤩
