Though no longer a working pub, The Old Ram Inn in Minchinhampton remains one of the town's most characterful and historically rich buildings. Situated in the heart of the Market Square, this former 18th-century coaching inn has gracefully evolved into a private residence while still retaining all the charm and atmosphere of its storied past.

With its thick Cotswold stone walls, original fireplaces, and timber beams, The Old Ram tells a tale of centuries gone by. Over the years, it has served as a pub, a restaurant, a B&B, and even the clubhouse for the local rugby team — and with each new chapter, it has retained its soul. Today, it stands as a cherished example of the town's heritage.

The building itself is impressive, spanning over 3,000 square feet across three floors. While now privately owned, it remains a visual anchor in Minchinhampton’s historic centre — a constant presence amid the shops, cafés, and local events that give the town its charm.

Even as a private residence, The Old Ram Inn continues to capture the imagination. It's a reminder of how history can live on through architecture and thoughtful stewardship. For visitors walking through Minchinhampton, it’s well worth pausing to admire this handsome building — a fine piece of living history in one of the Cotswolds' prettiest towns.

I'll be honest I went in there a lot more when I was a kid (it's where I met Sooty and Sweep and Matthew Corbett, so there's that). It's a nice little venue but a lot of what goes on there now doesn't really appeal to me.
