I started banking with HSBC Bank, The Bridge, Walsall. It was initially Midland Bank taken over by HSBC. The relationship was amazing from one extreme to another. I did hundreds of millions turnover. Every manager wanted to meet me. One call was enough to resolve any issue.
The regional manager provided enough overdraft facilities to personal accounts and remained for over twenty years. The bank earned millions in interest and other charges.
All previous managers had golden shake hands, retired and the new managers were never introduced to customers. Those sitting at the back end in the central offices have no knowledge of their customers. Example
My overdraft facilities were reduced by 95% without contacting me for my needs.
There is no loyalty of any kind. It has now become very good, to rubbish.
I will of be leaving and so will hundreds of introduced accounts.
Stay away from HSBC. If they do that to me, you are not any better.
Thanks for reading.

On a blustery afternoon in October 2011, my wife and I took a jaunt into downtown Walsall to open a bank account. She was from Germany, I from Canada, and even as newcomers to the area we knew we wouldn't be staying for longer than a year so the old HSBC slogan, "The World's Local Bank" made it seem like the perfect choicd. Our home address has since said "Colorado, USA" and now "Alberta, Canada", and many different banks have been tried and tested over the years. We have always kept our old HSBC account to manage some residual income in the UK, and there is one thing that has become more definitive and true than the Rocky Mountains we now live by:

HSBC IS THE WORST BANK IN THE WORLD.

Run. Run far away!

Seriously. Not just one branch here or there, but the whole operation. The dereliction permeates every nook and cranny.

Take my word for it and use any other bank. I don't even care. Just not HSBC.

...Oh, and that whole thing about "World's Local Bank"? Yeah, that was a total sham. HSBC in the USA and Canada are totally distinct organizations from HSBC UK and there is no cooperation between them. You know how you get those moments in life where you wish you could go back in time to undo a mistake?
