I had a lightening strike in June 2023 on a thatched roof. It caused a lot of damage

Roll on one year still not resolved. Ireed to renew the insurance when we spoke because Hungerford Office said they would speak to the claims team about my on-going unsettled claim to get it resolved.

I have been very worried about the structural damage since the lighting strike. And today I can clearly see from the ground that indeed the cement around the chimney is split. Still not proper survey done by NFU

I still don't have glazing in the shed where 4 panel exploded together. The Team collected the glass and boarded it up. It's terrible no one has been back to fix it.

The remote control the blasted off the wall for the garden lights has not been replaced and fixed.

It really is a shambles. I am very disappointed with the service.

I have insured three properties through NFU Mutual for more than 5 years now and I cannot recommend them highly enough. At one time or another I have used most of the major insurers here in the UK and there is no doubt that NFU Mutual are head and shoulders above any of their competitors. The Hungerford agency, run by Gary Pope, provide a first class service and they are excellent value for money and very competitive in price. They are unfailingly polite, highly efficient and very proactive in trying to arrange the best deal. And don't assume that they only cover farm related insurance - they seem to be able to insure just about anything! Stephen Hall is my main contact in Hungerford and I strongly recommend that you call him for any sort of insurance advice.

Living locally I decided to give the Hungerford NFU Mutual a call to see how they could help with a range of insurance requirements I had coming up for renewal elsewhere, including; cars, home and landlord cover. The response was really refreshing, I dealt with one excellent consultant who was very accessible on the phone and email, who took the time to understand my requirements and subsequently came up with competitive quotes. If there were any quirky aspects to my requirements the underwriters were able to digest and incorporate into the cover without issue. It was a very easy decision for me to switch to these guys, I highly recommend giving them a shout to see how they can help.

I would not hesitate for one second to praise as highly as possible - NFU Hungerford. Jack, Gary and the rest of the team have been literal life savers to us as a family since we lost our home in a fire last year. From the moment we found ourselves in the terrible situation we were - to now, halfway building our new home, they have been with us every step of the way. They have gone out of their way to help us and make the ordeal of suddenly finding ourselves homeless and in a state of utter shock as stress free as possible. They have been fair and understanding and communication has been exemplary. If you have a period property or a thatched home - do not look anywhere else. Because when you need to make that claim you need to be with a company like NFU.
