Unfortunately, I would have to say to avoid this company. The gentleman that showed me around on viewings told me that things were going to be left in the property that I later found out (after offer acception) were not and I would have to pay for. Staff were rude and implied that I could not afford the property I was going to view despite having a mortgage agreed. The exact words were something along the lines of ‘are you sure you want to view this property? It is quite expensive.’ Since offer acception in February, it is now September and I have been told it’s looking more like November I will be in when originally they said June or July at the latest. Communication has been incredibly poor and I haven’t heard from them since I accepted the offer. I even got told off when I originally put my offer through for the same property with a different company because they had it listed for £10,000 cheaper than themselves. I have actually pulled out of the sale due to this.
UPDATE TO REPLY TO COMPANY RESPONSE:
I did call and explain my concerns to your company first and I got a call back from a manager. He said there was nothing he could do but he did apologise. In regard to the oven being left, your receptionist laughed when I said that I was told it was being left and I was later told it wasn’t. She said ‘if you saw a picture on the wall, you wouldn’t expect them to leave that would you?’. As if that is remotely the same as the person showing me around saying ‘they’re leaving the oven’.
In regard to not being told ‘I couldn’t afford it’, she literally asked if I was sure I wanted to view a property because of the price? AFTER I told her that I had got a different mortgage in principle for the other property we were hoping to view (after our offer was rejected), which me and my partner were looking to purchase together.
Regardless, I didn’t recieve one phone call from yourselves after my offer was accepted.
When I gave clear instructions (such as on my first offer), that that was my maximum, and please can you tell them that when you pitch the offer, the receptionist assured me that she would. When she called me back she said ‘they’ve rejected your offer’, I said okay thanks, she said ‘do you not want to counter?’, I said no I couldn’t afford to and I did say that was my best and final offer at the time. I asked if she told them that was my best offer and she said ‘no I didn’t, I forgot’. Two weeks later I got a call to say they would accept my original offer. I think if she had been honest from the start then the offer would have been accepted instead of them (or you) trying to squeeze more money/commission out of me.
