Staff attentive, friendly and engaging. Room exceeded our expectations. On site parking and location very good. Housekeeping standards excellent throughout. Quality and temperature of cooked breakfast items from buffet disappointing, as were the quality of beverages. Breakfast menu in room did not match what was actually offered i.e no Porridge, Cranberry Juice, Choice of eggs etc…Explained my concern to staff and was told it was seasonal. Paid £11.80 in bar for pint of bitter, half shandy and 2 packets of crisps, we were the only customers in the bar at the time and the prices may had reflected this. The road off the main road to the hotel has been addressed by many reviewers so be careful of the many potholes, especially at night. The hotel doesn’t accept liability as the road is maintained by only the neighbouring residents and not the hotel which seems bizarre judging by the multiple customers who choose to visit the hotel, wedding and conference centre.

Attended a wedding. Great location. The venue is lovely, but the rooms - not so much. Adequate for nights stay. Breakfast products ran out, and replacing them was slow and, in some cases, didn't get some of the produce. A bit poor for breakfast time. Lovely area for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. It didn't spoil anything at all.

Held my daughters wedding here, end of March what a good decision. from the very first look around veronica was amazing making us welcome and always making us laugh. we used the boudoir to get ready with a lovely breakfast of sausage and bacon t.cakes fresh orange, tea and coffee. veronica was about for when we needed her, what a help she was in keeping everything calm, shes an expert with button holes. The service all went of well as did the wedding breakfast I had the cheese and onion pie (vedge option) wow it was good and plenty of it.|Hope ive got his name right .... Bill? the master of ceremonies was so attentive and helpful throughout the whole day and night. |The grounds were all lovely clean and well maintained we have some beautiful photos. It was nice for the children to be able to play outside safely as there was plenty of outdoor seating for the adults to watch them.|The rooms were all of a good standard I loved my sunken bath.|Overall it was a fantastic day made so much easier with the help from Veronica and Bill thankyou for being there.

Disappointing Stay – Falls Short of 4-Star Expectations

I booked a 2-night stay at Astley Bank Hotel for 3 people (1 adult and 2 children) via Hotel.uk, paying £200 for what was advertised as an Executive Double Suite. At that price, I expected a higher level of service — and for breakfast to be included.

On arrival, I was told the booking was for a standard suite, not the executive room I had paid for, and was asked to pay an extra £44 for a third guest bed — despite clearly booking for 3 people. The two gentlemen on reception were polite and apologetic, and offered a complimentary breakfast as a goodwill gesture.

After the first night, I raised the issue with a staff member named Sue. She said she would speak to the manager, who was in a meeting and would call me — but I never received a call. Sue seemed unwilling to resolve the issue and was generally unhelpful.

On the morning of checkout, we had no hot water at all in the room, which made an already frustrating stay even worse. Breakfast was also disappointing — guests had to walk down a corridor to a separate room to access milk and juices, which didn’t feel like a 4-star experience. The lady serving us was attentive and did seem rushed off her feet.

At checkout, another member of staff, Lisa, did eventually manage to resolve things, although it took some time and further explanation.

To top it off, I noticed the price for the same room dropped to £88 per night shortly after I booked — significantly less than what I paid.

Overall, the stay didn’t reflect the service, comfort, or value I would expect from a 4-star hotel. A disappointing experience.

I was there a week and I truly loved everything. The staff were excellent, a specially Lisa who went out of her way everyday to help me with literally everything I needed, even little things like sawing kit.
Allowed me even to park my car close to the door so I wouldn't have to carry my heavy luggage.
Other staff like the Manager Steph was exceptional, attentive and helpful, Maria, Sue and the older gentlemen who I can't remember his name was a waiter, his manners were impacable and he was lovely to me.
The location is a hidden gem, very quiet surroundings, huge free parking, and very well kept surrounded greenery.
It's over 200 years old mansion but it's kept in pristine condition, clean and lovely looking romantic place.
I truly felt like home away from home.
Highly recommend for business or family getaways, must visit.

Easy to find. Parking a short distance from entrance. If you are in anyway disabled you can drop off my main entrance but cannot park. There is no lift in the hotel so if disabled you are going to need to ask for a ground floor room. I didn't know there was no lift so they had to quickly change my top floor room to ground floor room. They did this effortlessly despite being fully booked. The room smelt unpleasant so I kept window open and used air freshener. There was no remote for the TV and when they found a spare remote, the TV didn't work. They brought in a second TV and the manager was a hilarious man who made me roar with laughter as he tried to resolve the issues. The food was good. I stayed two days. I would come back.

I stayed for two nights in an Executive Room while visiting the area for a family birthday celebration. I received a very warm welcome from Lisa on Reception, who provided me with all the necessary information. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The restaurant and bar staff were extremely courteous and attentive. I had dinner and breakfast on each day of my stay. The food was of a very high standard, plentiful, and well presented. Margaret was friendly, kind and helpful during breakfast, as indeed were all the staff members whom I met during my stay. This a relatively small hotel, wedding and conference venue, offering boutique-style accommodation and fine dining, which ensures that the guests receive a high level of personal care and attention. I shall certainly stay here again, and can fully recommend Astley Bank to the discerning traveller.

We had our wedding at Astley Bank.
The whole process, from viewing the venue, to the day itself was seamless which was all thanks to Veronika and Lauren, our wedding co-ordinators.
Nothing was too much trouble for them, regardless of how many emails we sent and questions we asked.
They always responded swiftly and answered our questions in full.
We visited the venue on a few occasions prior to our wedding and on each visit the staff made us feel welcome and treated us like family.
On the day itself Lauren ensured everything went smoothly, keeping everyone organised and where they needed to be. Our guests commented on how lovely and friendly all the staff were and how efficiently they carried out their duties.
We can't think of a better venue to have had our wedding and our guests certainly understood why we chose Astley Bank.
