I had an excellent experience with Blanchards and their sister company, Athena.
I would fully recommend this company. The staff were kind, sensitive, knowledgeable and responded in good time to my many, many questions.
In 2023 I got a call out of the blue from Blanchards looking for relatives of my estranged father. I initially thought it could be a scam but for the fact that they knew his name. I am the eldest child of a first marriage and he left before I was even born. He was never spoken about. No-one in my family knows his name.
I decided to proceed because I thought I had nothing to lose and maybe something to gain, even if it might only a few personal possessions. I didn't expect much at all.
The whole process was very smooth, even the process of getting my ID verified. There was an initial outlay (£50) for hiring an independent local solicitor to do this but Blanchards refunded that cost once they received the ID.
They work with their sister company, Athena, who deal with probate matters. I was kept informed by email at each stage of the process, so I had everything in writing.
They dealt with everything so that I didn't have to. All his outstanding debts were paid and after Blanchards and Athena had taken their fee, I received a document detailing the initial value of his estate and everything which had been paid out. I then received the remaining funds from the estate with no further expenses to pay.

Contact received out of the blue for an estranged relative. We were able to confirm the death via other means so were reasonably happy that it was legitimate. We were sent contracts that laid everything out very clearly including the percentage that would be paid to Blanchards, and at no point before the very end of the process were we asked for any financial information or to make payments.
The process took a LONG time - about two years from the first contact - and we would have been a bit happier with more regular updates on timings rather than having to chase things up, but once everything was finalised and agreed, the payment was made within a couple of days.

I had an excellent experience working with this team (specifically Sophie and Luke) from start to finish. They were incredibly supportive and professional throughout the entire process. Every issue was handled efficiently and with care, and I was kept up to date every step of the way. Their dedication and communication made a difficult time much easier to navigate. Very professional service and brilliant to deal with ... We have just gone through a lengthy probate process (2.5 years with delays due to the Probate office and HMRC) and I cannot speak highly enough of the support and guidance provided by Blanchards & Athena. The team have always been professional, considered and always respond quickly to emails and phone calls. This was always re-assuring in a process in which I was not familiar. A special call out for Sophie who has been a delight to deal with. In summary, I hugely recommend their support !

I found Blanchards very good they contacted us to say that I was eligible for a part of my late sisters estate. I sent proof of who I was and it was easy from there .They contacted us all at every stage to keep us informed of what would be happening and after 18 months 2 yrs we got our share of it. Without Blanchards we would not of had a clue we were eligible for any monies from her estate or that there was an estate. I can highly recommend them.

Blanchards contacted me regarding a death in my family. I did not know about the event until that contact. I was able to attend a funeral that My family would have missed. The service I have received from Blanchards has been excellent and I have been supported all the way through the probate. This was a very important and professional service that I would recommend.

Would have been nice if you got my name correct but apart from that, everything was excellent. Staff chatty and not pushy. Kept us informed the whole time and in this instance, it would definitely have been very complicated for a member of my family to complete probate and trace everyone involved and, I'm guessing, in this instance, not for a huge reward.

I am responding to your email on behalf of my wife, who has recently been diagnosed with Dementia. Whilst appreciating the work involved in a situation like this, the almost three years it has taken to resolve has had an effect on my wife, in so much she worried about what should she do with the money, should she alter her will, and was the whole thing a scam.
We are aware of another cousin who has developed Dementia over the past 3 years.
I cannot say that the inheritance is the cause of the dementia in anyway, but I did want you to know what has happened during this period.
The money has now been received and invested wisely.
