I have never seen it has busy surely it must be giro day or something wow the line for service was right up to the door plus outside I am like wow I normally go in there’s 4 or 5 people about but looks short staffed today but normally it’s a pretty good service I must have just missed timed this visit on the off chance oh well can have a walk round brighouse stretch the legs then go back n hopefully the waiting time has gone down but yes normally a very good fast professional service resumed has in 10 mins the back log was sorted the service was excellent has per normal

Absolutely terrible standard in regards to data protection & service standards. ID is strictly needed when the PES service is used, the computer should also prompt for ID to be presented. I myself had to show ID in halifax this morning, so for brighouse to have allowed payments to be issued, without ID, to a male, when code will have clearly showed female name is disgusting. Just under £500 was handed over.

Pros:
The range of stationery is good and the staff are always knowledgeable. There’s the whole range of services here

Cons: The customer service is so patchy. Some days it’s fine, but then you get sneered at or snapped at.

First time I deposited a cheque I didn’t know you had to have the yellow envelope. You can say “at the post office you need a special envelope, which you can fill in before you come to save time”. Or, you can say “We’re not your bank” and make your customer feel small.

You can say, “I know you’ve already done the postage online, but we still need it to be put on the scales for our system to work”. Or you can jab your finger and just repeat “On the scales” to your bemused customer.

Staff having good rapport with each other genuinely creates a good, welcoming atmosphere. People can understand that two staff need to communicate. But when there’s a long queue, saying “I won’t be a moment” if you need to chat to each other goes a long way to stop people feeling impotent and annoyed.

Some of the reviews on here are clearly from people who’ve been frustrated by the noticeable, frequently abrupt manner. I hope to be constructive. My own job is customer facing; it might not be nice to see bad reviews but it can be used to improve problem areas. Reviewers are genuinely wanting and needing good service - they want to be happy customers.

Post offices have a captive audience. If the customers had more choice in where to go, this PO might find itself with fewer of those annoying customers that seem to hack them off. Perhaps then a really good service would be worth aiming for.

The 2 female regular staff who work behind the counter are rude. They close the counter at busiest times of day and just refuse to acknowledge the ques. Can just tell they don't want to be there. Poor service
