How to spoil a 15 year business relationship in one easy lesson!
I was with SJD who were acquired by Caroola, and since the start of 2024 the service has declined rapidly...
An ever changing dedicated accountant, 4 now since March 2024. Not listening to me, as I changed back to a PAYE role for the new tax year, and I kept getting told about tax liabilities and payments on account.
Response time for questions and queries has fallen through the floor - with SJD it used to be a 24 hour SLA!
My account is in a dormant state, and they are reneging on a service I have technically already paid for in the form of their monthly d/debit!
As soon as my tax liabilities are cleared I will be closing down my account asap

I was with SJD who were acquired by Caroola and it's been a slow descent ever since. The icing on the cake has just come recently as Caroola solicited me for my current banking info in order to prepare my VAT return SIX MONTHS after I've formally notified them of their dismissal, but they have yet to formally complete the handover of my business to my new accountants. Foot-dragging had become a main reason for me switching, but it was never this bad. I'm actually considering a formal complaint to the relevant governing body. If you're looking for an account who will help keep your stress low keep looking.

I had terrible experience with SJD. Turn over of accountants is shocking to the point that I'm now semi used to my emails going unanswered for weeks and then I get another of those emails with someone introducing themselves as my new accountant. There's absolutely no continuity between one accountant leaving and another starting. I have now been trying to close my ltd company for almost 2 years and I'm just being bounced between different teams in SJD.
For any contractors out there looking for accounting company to do their finances - stay away from SJD. Awful service

Having being a customer for 12 years at SJD, I can only repeat what Gosia Brzostowska wrote in the previous review. The turnover rate of accountants at SJD since their cyber attack incident at the end of 2020 has accelerated and is now at the point where you can't get anything meaningful done with them. I am on my 4th SJD accountant in 12 months. The service SJD provide has disappeared to the point where SJD are working against you and not for you. I will be more than happy to revise my review if things change. It is a shame but steer well clear for now.

Onboarding service has been excellent. I've found SJD easy and helpful to engage with and the process has been clearly explained to me at each step. Would recommend if you want all the hassle taking out of setting up a Limited Company.

I use, and will be leaving as soon as I'm able to, what I knew to be Nixon Williams, now Caroola. Sadly they were an OK, (did the job) accountancy service provider. They clearly didn't have great IT or IT Security and were hacked. It all went horribly wrong for them, and their customers. And my business was massive impacted based on their error and poor management of the issue there after. They've never really got my accounts back to a place of 'trust'. And as I come to close my limited, and also my accountancy agreement with Nixon / Caroola. As ever there are issues with the accounts that we'll need to work out, and I think I'll end up having to pay some of the tax commitments due by my company - out of my own pocket. As the accounts impacted by the Hack, and the subsequent migration of my data from the impacted IT system, to their new Accounting system. (And that's not mentioning the ever changing team that was allocated to me over the last couple of years), didn't migrate correctly. I do feel for the poor people trying to keep the lights on there. They were left high and dry, and had to deal with very annoyed people like me. Don't use them... Find yourself a local accountancy firm, where you can have constancy in service, and also ask them what their IT Security position is...
