Hi ,
I am Neethu who arrived few days back in Adelaide and I met Renee Best today in the bank for getting some advices regarding home loan. She has been very humble and helping personality which I cannot explain it one word or sentence. I am sure when you are in trouble there will be some god sending people which you will help you with it. I am in the same position as so many brits. We used commbank in Australia, moved back to the UK and now can't access the app due to being back in the UK. After going through hours of calls, identify verification, sending documents to Australia, they simply revert to saying you must come to Australia to prove your ID
UPDATE 08.2024: Call Combank in the Australian day. Avoid the night team because they will not help you. The day team will refer a senior leader / manager to call you and they will authorise your identify. It took 30 minutes but it was fully resolved. Keep persevering and make sure you tell them you absolutely need to get into the account to access. GOOD LUCK

Terrible if you are planning to move overseas. I went to a few branches and they did not inform me of the withholding taxes, and it is extremely difficult to get in touch with them.

I wrote 4 months ago - no reply.

I have tried to call the branch but the advertised numbers no longer exist.

I have tried contacting the branch via email to my relationship manager, but the email bounces back.

I have called Australia using the numbers advertised and they say they do not have any contact details, names or numbers for London – which beggars belief! The only thing suggested was a walk up appointment.

So I'm going on the 27th to see what happens. But I am VERY unimpressed so far.

I called (this is almost a 300 mile round trip) for my walk up appointment. The receptionist said she gets several people a week, but there are NO appointments and NO ONE is there to see anyone. You have to ring Australia...

Dont bother going, you're wasting your time.

I chased again in Feb and raised another formal complaint. The finding of the complaint was the last complaint hadnt been completed correctly so it was processed again.

As I hadnt heard anything again after 3 months, I raised another complaint. This time the finding confirmed that the complaint had been processed and the funds were about to be released but some technical fault prevented the funds being transferred. But, the incredible thing is the funding dept didnt report back about the issue!

This time, the customer services agent took responsibility for sorting it - her name is Liniah and she has been excellent. We have had a goodwill amount sent by chq to cover our expenses and we now await the refund amount to be transferred.....

But, the overall service has been appalling.

As an Australian Citizen resident in UK, the service is awful. The bank in Australia has no email contact and no ordinary mail address and the online services are poor plus it does not include messages. You have to contact them by international phone call to service your account - they don't answer - an hour's bill with no answer last time I tried. They offer reverse charge calling but my home phone provider charges for requesting a reverse charge via the operator. If you do get through, they claim they will call you back. It does not seem very secure.

Absolutely appalling service. Am expected to fly to Aus to prove who I am even after completing their identification process. Won't help and we are expected to use the app for everything. Steer well clear. Im trying to close account and transfer funds to the UK. This promises to be interesting

Just horrible. Been a customer forever, for the first time need to contact bank for urgent help because of unauthorised transaction on my account, but to be able to reach for help can only be done via app, so you have to download an app to solve a fraud problem, not exactly something comfortable to do, then app locks you out and askes for your card password, more uncomfortable procedures, so you decide to use the phone, after over half hour wait the call drop, call again, asked for email or any other way to help, none, a bank, with all that money, but zero support to customers when needed. Shocking. Please, have better wats of contact so customers can reach you, have online chat, email, mote people on the phones. This is just horrible customer support.

I don't know why they bother having this office in London as no one ever answers the phone and it seems that they go to great lengths to make sure you cannot contact them. I've been trying for 3 months to sell my shareholding in CBA and after being repeatedly ignored by the head office in Australia I thought the UK office may be able to assist me but it appears as though they operate on the same basis and refuse to communicate.
It's disgraceful that a global bank like this can behave in such a manner !
