I have used this Company beforehand on a number of occasions & they are an excellent Company with reasonably inexpensive options. My Total Excess Cover which covered any over & above expenses ( up to £6000) not covered by a Hire car company's standard insurance, cost less than £30 for ten days of cover. I did not need to stipulate the Hire Company, the specific type of car or even the country I would be driving in. Thankfully, I have never had to make a claim on the insurance however having read the reviews it would seem that the process is relatively simple & claims are settled quickly.
Just one point I would suggest to holiday makers planning to hire a car whilst abroad would be wherever possible talk to your Hotel (most have an affiliated car hire company) just to check their insurance status as they may offer 100% cover (get them to email you confirmation of the details) thereby avoiding the need for Excess Insurance in the first place.
