A catalogue of errors and appalling communication when I updated my Will through this Company. Copious apologies offered, but I don't feel I received an appropriate level of service for the money charged. (PS. Subsequent to posting this review I wrote directly to the Company and they investigated my complaints, upheld them, and refunded me all the fees I had paid. I thought that was a very proper response (however, as a final sting in the tail the cheque they sent me 'bounced' when I paid it in ..... meaning another email exchange to successfully access the refund!)

I contacted Daniel Smithson to ask for advice and a 10 minute chat. I was quoted £100 for the 10 minute chat which was extortionate but I was in a hurry to understand how to submit a balance sheet and just wanted some quick questions answered about where to put what. I was then asked about all of my companies and a new business I was taking on. Daniel said it would save time (clearly his not mine as it turns out) to onboard me as a client this way. So I provided more detail than I wanted at this stage as I only wanted a few questions answered. I was then ignored for a day even though he knew my query was urgent. When he eventually replied he asked me to pay £500 to get some advice on the set up of my businesses. Which I didn’t even ask for. I obviously declined and said I’d still just like the chat you offered me for £100. He then said he was no longer interested in getting £100 for 10 minutes work and would ‘pass on the chat’. So all that was clearly just to try to force me into paying more money for advice I never asked for. Awful service and he wasted my time for 3 days where I could have asked a halfway decent accountant for help who wasn’t going for the hard sell. Knowing I’m moving to the area and have several businesses, they obviously see no value in me as a client which I must say is offensive, as they should value customers no matter how small their businesses are or how many businesses a client has. I was shocked to be quoted for future filing of accounts, which I also never asked for, at £250 an hour, resulting in £2000 per filing of accounts, when I have 5 companies to file for, was a joke of a quote. Only to find they turn down £100 for 10 minutes. How many of you out there would love to earn £100 for 10 minutes? Amazing attitude these people have, turning away business which I chased down to begin with. I would NEVER recommend these charlatans. Avoid like the plague if you want an accountant who will actually listen to your business needs and not push you to pay over the odds for services you never asked for, or waste your time entirely leading you to believe you would receive a service they never intended to supply in the first place. What a strange attitude to business.
