Elsby & Co have been my family's accountants for quite a few years. Our Accountant is Emily and she deals with numerous accounts for us.
Last Friday after dealing with HMRC I felt I needed some guidance so I phoned Emily. She took my call immediately and dealt with me with professionalism and also a tremendous amount of compassion.
It was her kindness that helped the most. I went into the weekend knowing that Elsby and especially Emily would come up with a plan.

I had trouble with me 1st years TAX rebate which i tried to do myself .

Very expensive accountant. I had this accountancy firm do my accounts for me the last 2 tax years. Last tax year, I provided much information to them and they kindly sorted out my expenses and other particulars. They charged me £325 + VAT.
This last tax year was different. I provided them with all the information they need via a spreadsheet so that all they needed to do was input the information online, a 5 minute job at most. This year £350 + VAT. They also added an extra supplement of £60 for doing an extra 5 minutes work on rental income.

Very expensive accountant and there’s much cheaper options out there provided the same service. The reason for the 3 stars is their work in the tax year of 2022/23. For the 10 minutes work they’ve done for 2023/24, it’s 1 star as their service for this tax year is extortion. I’ll be going elsewhere next time. You’ve lost a client.

James and the rest of the team at Elsby are really excellent to deal with. Very capable individuals who respond quickly, really know their stuff and make complex matters straightforward to the layman. An excellent company who I highly recommend.

Excellent service all round, with quick preparation of annual accounts. I wanted to thank James, Katie and Ellie for their prompt and friendly accounting service, my questions were always answered promptly and thoroughly, guidance was given when necessary and more importantly, there are always plenty of easy to understand explanations over the phone when I've been unsure of something. Invoicing is straight forward with no hidden charges and good value, regular news bulletins from HQ, good communication particularly from Katie & Ellie over the recent weeks. Ellie has been very proficient in keeping me up to date with this years return. All in all I would happily recommend Elsby. I also used them for Payroll, again a quality service was provided.
