I phoned last night as my dog was dying. I wanted to know if there was anything I could do. I needed a compassionate voice and understanding. The vet called me back as it was out of hours (9pm). She was abrupt. Told me to bring her in even though she was dying and they would assess her. Mentioning the £160 just to see her. She was dying. She was a 2lb 12yr old chihuahua. We explained that we were not travelling 45 minutes if nothing could be done. We knew nothing could really be done but you panic and want reassurance that even though she was showing all the signs of respiratory failure/heart failure and her eyes had clouded over, that they could comfort you somehow. Instead, when I said my husband wanted to hold her in his arms till she passed… she CHUCKLED over the phone and said she would report this! I don’t know if she is severely emotionally stunted when it comes to compassion in times like this but it was the most brutal and cruel response we could have ever heard. Our baby died ten minutes later, in our arms, at home and not in a car on the way to see the wicked witch of the South West. I do not write negative reviews but her behaviour was absolutely atrocious and heartless. Go elsewhere if she is the usual out of hours vet. Void of empathy!

After our beautiful cat, Grace, passed away from terminal cancer, Garston Vets were understanding and respectful. They sent my husband and I a bereavement card, with a packet of wild seeds attached. So that we can scatter them, as a reminder of our loss. I also asked for paw prints and cutting of her fur, which they did, even putting her colours into separate vials (white, black & ginger). My cat box, towel and throw were also returned to us. The staff were brilliant, at this sad time. And for that reason, I am giving them a 5 star rating.

My cat and I were welcomed warmly and help given promptly. Special attention was given to a cat's needs and requirements and I felt we both were very happy to use Garstons in a time of worry and concern.

Very clean smell on entry, a quick response to our arrival. Very professional ,we loved the separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs making it all less stressful,we met with the nurse first,,followed by the vet both lovely girls to converse with and professional in their jobs. Highly recommend Garston Vets.

Recently visited Garston Frome to get my hamster Mango checked over.
Sophie was super polite, friendly and reassured and explained everything to me. The building is clean and warm, and they have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs. Our wait time was minimal and they addressed Mango by her name like your GP would to you! Really respectful. Would definitely recommend Garston!

😍For a visit of the most dreaded, heart wrenching reason, I can honestly say it was a very positive, reassuring, calming and supportive, if still very emotional experience!

Thank you for allowing us the time we needed to say our final goodbyes in our own time and a peaceful and respectful environment.

You'll never know just how much comfort you brought us in that time you spent chatting with us whilst caring for Benson in his final moments. As was the case at Garston Warminster, with his partner in crime Carter some 3 years ago.

It really does not get any easier saying goodbye but you made it more bearable at least 😇🐶😇🐕

Awful vets.
I took my cat in as she hadn’t been herself and wasn’t passing urine, she was found to have an inflamed bladder, the cause was unknown, they needed to do further testing. They attempted to catheterise her - something I assumed most vets have knowledge of, and they did not tell me otherwise - turns out they had NO experience in catheterising a female cat, but took it upon themselves to do it rather than 1) send her elsewhere or 2) ask me to take her elsewhere, which I would’ve done to get correct treatment. They called me and advised she had wee’d on the table and was good to come home for monitoring, I got there 15 minutes later to them telling me the urine ‘had left the bladder’ but they didn’t know where it had gone. In other words, they had ruptured her bladder the urine was now inside her, slowly poisoning and killing her, and she now needed to be PTS.

I received no apology, was charged for the catheter they had essentially killed her with and a load of other things that didn’t make sense as they hadn’t done much for her prior to catheterisation, and it was £300 on top for her to be PTS and into a box. After their negligence and inability killed her.

I will never recommend this vets, they are awful and rude, yet they praise themselves for being one of the best with cats!

I will also state here, I know of other people who have moved vet practices because of their cats being hit or treated badly by this veterinary practice. Protect your animals, consider other places.

My entire family has been going here for around 40yrs, great friendly professional service, they are always so happy to see my cats who in turn also love garston!
