The decision to write a negative review is never an easy decision to make, however due to our company values of truth and transparency, we feel compelled to share the experience we had with GMH Accountants with the wider community.

We initially became a client of GMH Accountants after Gareth and GMH Accountants acquired the previous accountant we were very happy with.

We were paying a monthly subscription of a small amount to GMH under the understanding (from our previous agreement) that we would receive minimal services of advice and signing off our accounts at the end of the year. This was the agreement inherited by GMH when they purchased the accountancy practice we originally were working with.

Surprisingly, after having received no service from GMH Accountants (including the fact that we didn't even receive an email or call about our filing deadline, until I called their office) we were told we would have to pay extra for them to file our accounts on top of the £320 we had paid them up to this point.

As both my co-founder and I are Economics and Finance graduates we had delivered our accounts in a well-organised excel document. Gareth in response attempted to upsell his consultancy services, utilising fear tactics about the state of our accounting situation, combined with trying to make things seem more complicated than they were.

The simplicity of our accounts was later confirmed by a family friend who is an accountant and he suggested filing ourselves.

We understand that we represented a small account for your business, however, if you had no intention of providing services to us then it would have been more professional to have made that clear from the outset.

When receiving business services, you need to be able to trust the provider. We have had first hand experience that GMH Accountants cannot be trusted to be forthcoming and honourable in their dealings with clients.
