Used Gooding accounts previously being quoted little over £125 for a tax return. They then emailed Apr ‘22 after doing no work for me the previous year requesting that I sign a document agreeing to let them do my tax return. I explicitly asked if I had already paid for this or if payment was required, before signing. They replied advising no payment was required just to confirm I was happy with the services they were providing me.
Jump forward 6 months, they get all my submission information (I had to provide all figures as well as categorise it myself). Then I receive my tax return documents from them with a bill for £450. I forwarded the previous email stating no payment was required and they told me it was a misunderstanding and I had to pay immediately. When I refused as they provided no clarity as to why it was ever said, they immediately passed it to a debt collection agency and are now refusing to communicate with me. If I had thought they would charge me £450 to fill in a form with all the figures I had already collated, I would have done it myself - as I have done previously.
Untrustworthy, money grabbing and deceitful with no regard for struggling small businesses or honesty and integrity.
Avoid at all costs.

Since that day, Sam has helped the family through all the process of winding up my brothers business, assisting Tim's son and daughter with probate and settling the accounts.
