My brother in law who is Maltese has an account with this bank which unfortunately has now been declared dormant. He has just flown over to close the account and retrieve the £2,000 balance. The man is very ill and has a broken back, it was a very difficult journey. He brought with him his passport, his ID which is used in his country, both were picture ID he also brought his bank pass book and his picture bank card from home. Both the Keighley and Skipton office would not close his account without his driving
Licence and they would not accept a copy that my niece sent to them via phone. When asked previously what ID he needed it was not mentioned the ID of his country would not be accepted. Their website clearly states passport OR driving license. They have now told this quite obviously sick and crippled man he has to fly back to Malta and fly back to the Uk with his driving license but would still not guarantee they would give him his money. We were obviously cross and frustrated so there was a heated discussion and they have now flagged them as being trouble makers. The manager at the Skipton branch refused to write down the exact paperwork/ID he needed to bring should he return and the Keighley office would not sign anything to guarantee if he brought his license in person they would give him his money. I understand they have to have policies to safeguard but this is absolutely disgusting! Where is the common sense?

Impossible to get anything done - days of waiting in a hotline where you have got to start from scratch every time you call them. They put you through and no one picks up. So back to zero. The whole palaver of having to push buttons and insert numbers ...
Misery starts when you cannot call your local branch for a matter that has been going on for over a year. We have been trying to get an urgently needed document, with all the relevant permissions and power of attorney. While the local branch seemed to be fine with all the original paperwork, the document has never been delivered.
As trying to get things now sorted from abroad (as we never heard back from them) we are forced to call a 0345 number.
This telephone "customer service" requires you to be
a) unemployed or dedicate your annual holiday to the matter
b) have utter patience - and I mean utter patience (no wonder they say that all insults will not be tolerated ...where is the consumer right that they insult and abuse the client nonstop by not providing a customer service and delaying urgent matters endlessly?
c) have a flat rate when calling from abroad!!! ( we are talking HOURS here)
d) be ready that after one call you have to start the same all over again the next day as NOTHING gets done ...

Following a call with the Halifax fraud line, I was told to contact the Rochdale Branch at 6/14 Yorkshire St, Rochdale. In my attempt to contact the branch I have spent 2 days, calling two 0345 call centres, the Halifax complaints team and by letter to the branch manager, all to no avail. As background I am supporting an elderly member of my family with a request for information associated with cheques they have issued. This is a serious issue and Halifax branch manager has not contacted either myself of my relative the account holder. Totally dismayed and disgusted.

Yate Halifax is amazing everytime I go there I'm greeted with a smile from everyone especially the lady on the counter help desk she wears glasses and her husband works there sorry can't recall her name. Today she helped me count out all my coins over £170 worth, the bank was busy , of course it was busy because the staff are amazing!!! 🙂 Halifax is my favourite bank ever because your staff care and take pride in there work, the lady is a credit to your branch the machine kept breaking the main door was closed 3 times while I was there she tried to fix it but alas your machine in yate is different prior to her previous work placement Emersons branch i did ask why arnt the machinss all the same to aid yoh be even better? , she calmed the old people to getting stressed and kept popping back to aid me in the coining bag operation then she even took me to the till and added it to my account, the main manager beautiful lady I don't know her name she even came out to help offer assistance to waiting customers , wow top marks all round even under stress all the staff were curtious to the old ,and total professionalism was on show ,i popped back in minutes later with strawberries for all the staff to show my appreciation, I hope this message doesn't fall on deaf ears and I hope you too realise yate brsn h staff are elite , thank you again yours sincerely Martin colin leworthy , mojothepyrutt salutes you all , my favourite bank ever arrrr x
