This local gem I stumbled across last week. All
Members of staff that I came across were attentive kind and knowledgeable. I had a guided tour of the current exhibition by the artist followed by a wonderful experience in the cafe. They serve great coffee and good prices and the home made food is a great personal touch. Amble seating both inside and outside. A great find of a place when in the surrounding area.

The ilkon art gallery & café facility is in a re purposed former church building which is now a community based project run by local artists and helper's . The gallery display is thought provoking and world culture inspired from various corners of the world and is an eclectic mix of sculptures , puppet figures and paintings all very colorful and some very life like, which are left to the viewer's own interpretation and can be quite dramatic and some almost sinister , so be prepared for the unexpected !! . The interior has been sympathetically restored to retain its heritage and feels welcoming and peaceful . The ilkon café adjoins the former church building and is tastefully decorated with a mix of Andy Warhol and local pieces, plus some antique pieces donated from former church members . The café offers a good selection of snacks and beverages and all are modestly priced and are good value for money . The coffee on sale was a mid strength coffee and is suitable for most palates and not too strong as to overpower the taste of the food . The café has indoor and outdoor seating areas , plus a small activity table for children and adults who like to sketch or colour , and some children's works were displayed . The ilkon café/center is just of the heanor road Ilkeston and easily reached by car or bus , there is a small parking area but space's are limited . The ilkon center really is something different and a totally unique experience combining art culture and coffee all at one venue . A must place visit for the coffee and culture lover !! .

Very well presented gallery space in a former church building. Cafe and toilets on site, the cafe serving a good array of food and drinks. Disabled access into the building but parking is very limited so best you contact them if you need access.

Excellent food, lot of home-made good quality cakes, summer pudding a favourite of mine, dont want a sandwich, try a chicken wrap or a filled croissant, regularly something different on the hot food menu, lasagne, chilli. Friendly staff. Prices are amazing. Dogs welcome, treats provided.

This is a brand new venture that we visited for the first time. The host was excellent spending lots of time to explain the concept and exhibition items. The current exhibition centres around refugees from Ukraine and their stories. It's difficult to put these in to words but a sense of loss, pride and hope are ones I would choose. It's really great to see someone investing so much in Ilkeston. I hope it thrives.

Excellent cafe. Good service and lovely food and drink. Had cappuccino and carrot cake. Indoor and outdoor tables. We'll worth a visit.
