This Post Office was pretty terrible with rude unhelpful staff in the past (and my previous review made that clear) but I have to say that it seems to have improved recently and the particularly unpleasant lady whom I most disliked seems to have left.

I’m only giving it three stars so far but it’s going in the right direction.

[Update on 24th October 2023] Having visited a couple more times since I updated my review, I've given it another star. It's not perfect but it is much better than it used to be. The staff are now friendly and helpful, something I would not have said a few years ago.

I'm editing my review because the Post Office has been under new ownership for some time and the guys who work there now are great! A big relief.

Went to post a parcel that my elderly grandma got delivered to me by mistake, woman behind the counter with short hair and glasses was unbelievably and unnecessarily rude! Literally muttered 'stupid' under her breath at me. Never had any issues with the other two guys that work there but this experience has unfortunately made me never want to go back.

The new management are great. Consistent opening hours which is so useful (compared to how it was before) since I need to work around my job. All three staff members I've met (two men and a lady) are so friendly and helpful. I visit regularly to send my eBay parcels and they're always nice, everytime I visit.

I only come into this post office out of absolute necessity as there is only the one left in Ilkley. I would rather pay to drive to post office in Menston as lady who works there is faultless and friendly. Back to the Ilkley post office then. Cannot fault the chaps who work there as they do a sterling job. As mentioned on the other reviews, lord knows how the older lady (often found on the far-right counter) still has a job there as customer service is quite clearly not her forte and wonder why this is her choice of employment? Grumpy, her attitude absolutely stinks, moany, talks under her breath, would quite clearly not rather be there and has got a very rude demeanour to put it mildly.

I can only assume that she must be directly involved with running this business, as she ruins the feel of the whole post office. Feel bad leaving a 1 star review as the rest of the persons who work here are fine but this one person ruins the whole ambience of the post office.

I have read the negative reviews and can honestly say I don't agree with them. The staff have always been very helpful to me, I post 2 or 3 times a week and yes most times had to queue but you do at all the other shops that are open so what's the problem. People in Ilkley will find any excuse to moan and its getting worse, I have lived here for 50+ years and am disgusted at what I now hear. It's about time people started appreciating all of our shop workers who have helped us through the last year, especially when most of you who moan have plenty of spare time!

The rudest post office I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. There was a middle aged woman and a gentleman on at the counter and their whole attitude, not just to me but to others as was deplorable. I queued for 40 MINS to get into the store, to be told rudely that neither the second class large letter I was purchasing stamps for or the prepaid labeled parcel I had would I be able to get a proof of posting on. I was told they don't make any money on this so wont do it. Clearly this is a franchise that cares only about money and not the customers as it takes less that 5 seconds to scan the QR code and print off the proof of postage. Due to the way I was spoken I did not continue with my transactions, which would have been over 40 1st class stamps and have taken my business to a post office that actually cares about the customers and human interaction, so it is their loss. Never again will I go to this post office. Very Rude Staff!
