Original case file complaint 121121.
I have a trading platform with Interactive Investor which I wish to close and transfer one holding to a paper certificate. I’ve sent several secure email/messages with a generic response. No-one has specifically looked at my individual account or complaint.
Initially, I tried to transfer all my holdings in my ISA and my Trading Account to an international trading company in Australia, but during this procedure between the two broking companies, Interactive Investor did not comply with the required regulatory process expected for such a transfer nor answer emails from the international broker during this process and the Australian broker had to cancel the deal. This has caused me undue stress and financial loss.
With this it was agreed that I would not have an account fee of £9.99 as they were not managing my account and the only time I required such management it failed due to interactive Investors incompetence. Since this agreement, and “good will”, I have not received a personal secure message specific to me from international Investor stating that the waived monthly management fee will be reinstated. The fee has been reinstated without my knowledge at £11.99 per month.
For some time, I have since asked for the accumulated fee of £109.87 (+ £49 credits) to be re credited to my account . In my secure messages I have referred them to my case number and to my complaint and specifically to my account & situation. None of this has been answered or actioned. Instead I’ve been sent very generic responses on their account fees. I have since insisted that this be up levelled to a complaint and to have the £109.87 reimbursed back into my account immediately and to have one stock holding moved to a paper holding in order to close this account. I (now) use a fin tech trading platform with no account fee, a simpler easier and cheaper structure and a platform that is able to answer questions directly related to my situation and not generically.
Interactive investor said, ‘they will help with a transfer’ yet it was their end that did not comply and the whole process was cancelled which has caused me complete stress and huge financial loss.
I am insisting that the account fee charge of £109.87 is credited back to my account this week and the paper share certificate for the one holding is sent to my address immediately in order for this account to be closed. I am not a huge corporate body where a fee is justified and a management structure put in place. I simply want what was agreed to be re instated and the whole account closed once the money has been credited and my share certificate issued. Very disappointing. Full account details can be given through private secure messages.

When the Halifax Building Society demutualised I received a number of shares. I don't know how but they somehow ended up in Interactive Investors hands. The charged me £9.99 a month to 'manage' my portfolio. I asked them to close the account. They failed to act on my request it took me threatening to report them to the financial Ombudsman Service before they responded and even then it took several letters and phone calls before I finally managed to get my money back which was by this time significantly reduced.

Do not trust this company! I started this account when the company was still TD and I had no problems, staff were friendly and helpful and I could put away a little money away each month for investing. After interactive took over I continued to pay monthly into my account for regular investments but never received a statement or any acknowledgement of my account. I called interactive investor to check my balance only to be told that after three years of saving the account was in a negative balance, they explained that there is now a monthly charge that was more than I paid into my account monthly and received no notification of this in three years, I attempted to make a complaint but was told that I was not able to, eventually they wrote off the negative balance and closed the account but still wasted 3 years of putting money aside. Don't trust a company that refuses to acknowledge your complaint which is against FCA regulations, save yourself time and money and invest your money elsewhere

Dealt with Dan Turner this week relating to some urgent financial matters and such a surprise to have someone take personal responsibility for something and help a customer when they need it. He was all over a problem we had and took time to help manage a solution and communicate everything back to us. So appreciated at a particularly stressful time. Thanks Dan.

I've been with ii for over 10 years and have invested on other platforms too. Over this period I've tried many of the ii services, including pension transfer and crystallisation. I find their site intuitive to use and the ii cost model to be both clear and flexible. I also find their various reviews, insights and portfolios very useful. Based on my experience thus far, I would certainly recommend.

I've lost money keeping my investments with them. Terrible lies and empty promises by their CEO Richard Wilson. Do not trust this company.
