Avoid this company - I payed £650 deposit and £291 a month from this company , then the threshold did not work so I asked for a new one and they send me a cradle which is a new small peice of plastic with new adhesive strips on that cost me £24 I then got told I was going 51 in a 20 and not even 2 weeks into my first ever insurance they cancel my policy for excessive speeding. I then had to pay £35 to transfer a new number plate , and then I cancelled my own policy before they did and they charged me £191 to cancel altogether that is £1191 they have just made from me in less than 3 weeks. They refused to give me any of the deposit back because apparently it cost them £650 to set me up. I’ve had nothing but trouble with these from the start and the money they take of you is Disgusting when new drivers are just looking for some insurance to start themselves of with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY

Was lied to about blackbox conditions, told I did not have a curfew but score was going down for driving at busy times. Cancelled policy and told refund would arrive in 5-7 days. Over a month and a half later and only just received refund in my bank after countless emails and phone calls. Absolute awful customer support would not recommend.

Avoid My First Car Insurance at All Costs – Dishonest, Exploitative, and Out to Cancel Policies Unfairly

If I could give zero stars, I would. My First Car Insurance is, without a doubt, the worst insurance provider I have ever dealt with. They will do anything in their power to cancel your policy before you can claim your no claims bonus, even if it means lying and manipulating situations that are completely beyond your control.

My policy was unfairly cancelled due to a so-called “violation” that was purely not my fault—a road that had always been 70mph was suddenly changed to 50mph, yet I was penalized as if I had deliberately broken the law. Instead of reviewing this fairly, My First Car Insurance saw it as an opportunity to void my policy without any reasonable justification.

To make matters worse, their customer service is an absolute disgrace. When I tried to challenge their decision, I was met with blatant lies and excuses. They claimed that because I “wasn’t driving the car enough,” I wasn’t eligible to rebook with them—an absurd and made-up excuse that is clearly just another tactic to avoid providing fair insurance. Their goal is not to support young drivers but to find any excuse to cancel policies and take money with nothing in return.

They are constantly nitpicking and looking for faults where there are none, making it impossible to maintain a policy with them. It is clear that their business model thrives on unfair cancellations, preventing young drivers from gaining no claims bonuses and making it even harder to afford insurance in the future.

I will be pursuing this case with the media to expose their unethical and deceitful practices. I strongly warn anyone considering this company to stay far away—they are nothing more than a scam disguised as an insurance provider. Do not waste your time or money.

Disaster from the start. Insured my 18yo son, was sold a dream. Paid a whole year in full at over £2500. Telematics device and app reporting system is completely unfair and at times erroneous... Constant reporting of bad journeys for no real reason despite everything being green (green good / red bad)... constant threats of cancellation thereafter and significant fines... paid several fines, that seem to jump up exponentially only for them to then cancel the policy at short notice after 6 months with no chance of reconciliation... then had to wait 30 working days for a refund (despite first being told 5-7 working days) for the unused 6 months... Customer service just read off a hymn sheet and largely ignored my concerns... not good especially with the crazy cost of insurance these days. Kids have got no chance of being financially independent with companies like this.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - This company is entirely unfair when it comes to situations and does not take accountability when misjudgment is made. I tried My First as they were the cheapest however, turned out to be a mistake. Black box is bulky and requires frequent charging if not left sat in the sun. Terrible service, i emailed regarding the black box and had to chase three times to get an unrelated response. Do not use this company.

If I could leave a 0 I would. Please, Please save your self the stress and use one of the big providers for young driver insurance. Constantly threatening to cancel the insurance based on faulty telematics device. Copy of driving licence ( which has been provided) and anything they feel like doing.

Telematics box constantly playing up, fell off window…. When changing a vehicle they wanted a ridiculous amount of money so cancelled. Save yourself the effort, go elsewhere
