National Trust - Wembury - Plymouth

A delightful beach which is dog friendly at this time of year. The access to the car park is down a narrow lane but there are passing places. Plenty of parking. This is a National Trust site so car parking charges do apply unless you are a member. There is a cliff edge path with some lovely views out to sea. There are toilets here but we didn’t use them. The cafe was closed on the day we arrived, so perhaps check in advance if this is important to you. There are some steps down to the beach so this might cause a problem for some. The tide was going out so our dog had a lovely time in the surf.

Lovely little beach with car park and cafe / ice cream and public toilets. A steep walk down steps to the beach itself so probably not suitable for wheelchair users.
Beach a mix of pebbles and sand, and there’s a stream running through it which was very refreshing on a hot day.
Lots of paddle boards and canoeing when I was there (June 2018) and lots of rock pools to explore with the kids.
The bay is quite shallow so the tide goes out a fair way. Energetic types can take off down the coastal path towards Plymouth.
Cream tea in the cafe was lovely with homemade scones. Ice cream is local.
Would go again!

National trust owned, Wembury beach is a lovely rugged bay. £5 per car entry. There are more rocks than sand but excellent for rock pooling as the tide goes out. A pretty hill top church, a shop serving ice creams and snacks and a small cafe - nice cream tea - toilets and a grassy area with benches is all there is there. We visited July 2018 and there was masses of seaweed and I mean masses. As a person who hates seaweed wrapping around my legs whilst swimming it did put me off but that's just me (hence my 3 stars) I escaped the sea when a jellyfish came bobbing past me, but my teenage daughter was in the sea for over an hour completely unperturbed.
**Just so you are aware, the national trust advice everyone to wear Beach Shoes as Weaver fish are rife on the beach (they live in the sand and sting you)**
Not one of my favourites beaches in the area but worth a visit

On 29th May I took myself for the 3 and a bit hour drive from my home down to Wembury to do some rockpooling and have a swim.

Wembury marine centre regularly runs rockpooling sessions which you have to pay for (but they're not expensive) one thing to bear in mind is they book large groups and I felt they focused on the kids alot (which is great if you have kids and/or go as a family) and also on the people that are either dedicated hobbiests/amateur professionals but for people like me, not a child, not with a child, and not someone who rockpools often enough to know super lots but knows more than someone whose never been before, I just felt a bit lost amongst all the people and not very engaged with unfortunately. That being said, I found some wonderful things and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The marine centre is well worth a visit too with lots of information available.

The beach itself isn't massive but it's beautiful and I absolutely enjoyed my solo swim at high tide before the tide turned and I could do some rockpooling. There is a little cafe next to the beach which sells everything you'd expect - I didn't use it though as I brought my own picnic with me.

Plenty of walking to do in the area too and a beautiful little church very close to the car park.

On the subject of the car park - its not massive, the early bird definitely gets the worm here - I arrived before 9am on a Sunday - I dread to think how busy it must get in the school holidays! Paybyphone is available and I didn't have any trouble with mobile signal (I'm on Vodafone).

It's a long Cornish beach with a wonderful cliff path. Sand near the sea, with great rocky area too, for kids to clamber over, and explore rock pools.

The car park is always full in summer, unless you arrive insanely early in the morning, but there is street parking nearby, if you don't mind the extra walk (roads down to the beach are narrow and steep in places).

It's a beach where kids will play all day. It can be a great walk along the coast through beautiful scenery, too.

The cliff path is quite rough and natural though - good supportive footwear is recommended if you are planning on going any distance.

Lovely little rugged cove with small beach. Very popular with surfers. Cafe, toilets, dog friendly and decent amount of parking spaces - I loved it
