The NFU are amazingly supportive to the insurance needs of an SME with help on health and safety matters too! Great to know that they are a Mutual and have been around a good while - even coming across a historical plaque as shown by the attached picture.

We have used the NFU for a few years now in our business, they are competitive, although definitely not the cheapest. However we have a dedicated account manager who understands our business and industry and gives sound experienced advice. Policy changes are easy to implement, and you know they are there if needed.

The local NFU office have been generally helpful but when a claim was made that required legal assistance the service was shocking. It was made clear that they would gather no information to help with the case and that they would err on the side of protecting the NFU over doing their job. Will never use NFU products ever again.

Given that everyone (including Which?) raves about NFU Mutual, I thought I would get a quote for home insurance. There is no on-line quotation process so you have phone, wait for a call back and then spend 30 mins going through a questionnaire that I had already done online at a price comparison site. End result was a quote that was over twice the price I had from my existing provider. I understand that if you have complex or unusual buildings or land to insure that NFU Mutual could be very helpful - but why would anyone looking for standard home insurance go through this process?
