I have consistently received exceptional service from Matthew Rook Sayer, and I would like to give special recognition to Neil Walton, who has managed my mortgage applications. I have come to Neil for the past seven years, primarily for renewals and related services, and his professionalism and attention to detail have always been outstanding. I have recommended Neil to several family members and friends, all of whom have been equally impressed with his expertise and service. For anyone seeking assistance with mortgages, I highly recommend reaching out to Neil Walton. Thanks again for the great service.

We recently used RMS to sell our house in Gosforth. I would highly recommend their service. Richard was well organised and had multiple viewings booked promptly allowing for a quick sale at an appropriate price. And Natalie and Eve have been invaluable in guiding us through the sale and mediating some difficult moments in a complex chain. Thank you to the team.

Excellent service from RMS Gosforth. The friendly, easy manner of our welcome persuaded us to consider using them for our house sale and we weren’t disappointed. Throughout an often stressful and difficult time, the staff at RMS guided us with knowledgeable professionalism and genuine care, making the whole process much easier. They are always on hand to answer your calls and are quick to chase up enquiries and return calls. An excellent experience and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

I can only echo others positive reviews of the Gosforth branch as I appreciate that they were working intially on the part of the seller, but as the buyer I was impressed how they acted fairly for both parties to reach an agreement both parties were happy to accept.
Throughout the process there was an open and frequent communication with regular updates and were more than happy to discuss further questions and queries both quickly and with clarity .
I would therefore have no hesitation in recommending them to others looking at house moving/selling.

We had a very pleasant experience with the Gosforth team for selling/buying our new home. RMS kept us up to date when we were lacking in information from our solicitor. Would happily use again

We recently purchased our first home and the team at Rook Matthews Sayer Gosforth could not have been more helpful throughout. In particular, Sian, Laura and our mortgage advisor Jon were all excellent and did everything possible to make sure everything went smoothly. Highly recommended and would definitely use their services again.

I am leaving this review because I really had a bizarre experience with this agent. First I must say that Jack was always very polite and professional, yet based on my story, there is room for improvement, not on a individual level but more on a general process-related one. I saw a house online on a Saturday morning and called immediately. They said they would call me back to schedule a viewing. They did not so I went to their office the following Monday and enquired about the house. The agent I saw said "oh you're Christina for the house on X street" (I am not Christina and I was told over the phone I was the first to call about this house so I would have appreciated to be called first for a viewing). Then, they were only available a week later for a visit "because they had other property visits"... I made an offer 30mn after visiting the house but then it took them 3 WEEKS to get back to me after I made the offer. I had to make contact every time (did that either by phone or mail about twice a week) to be told that they would have a reply the next day. When I finally heard back, the person I had over the phone told me the vendor did not accept my offer (20k over asking price), accepted another one, and was very dismissive when I talked about increasing my offer - which I was willing to do, saying "the other offer is quite a bit over yours". I would have appreciated this information 3 weeks earlier, or maybe an opportunity to discuss my offer as we are literally talking about my dream home - something I had told them when making my offer. Maybe they had a client in a chain they wanted to sell this house to, I'm not sure about anything, and I don't have a house to sell. Anyway, what I am certain of is that in the end, I lost 4 weeks in all this, I'm really upset because I loved this house and I feel it's almost as if they did not want me to buy this house.

Main Review, Edited 2023 Apr with typo and grammar correction:

I would strongly advise renters and landlords to steer clear of this agent. My experience with them left me extremely disappointed, as they not only cost me a lot of time and money but also demonstrated a lack of concern for their clients' interests.

To begin with, their application form is excessively invasive, requiring personal information that seemed irrelevant to the rental process. My wife and I spent hours filling it out, only to be met with disappointment later on.

Although our offer was accepted by the landlords, the agent later rejected our application on the grounds that we were planning to use the property as a home office, which they considered a form of commercial letting.

My wife and I were surprised and thought there might be some misunderstanding because the 'home office' is just a pandemic arrangement, not an actual 'office'.  We made dozens of calls and wrote several emails to explain this. But they are determined to avoid the slightest risk possible.

The result is we lost several hours of time, several thousands of pounds due to re-arrangement, and have to find another property to rent. They posted the advertisement online again for another tenant with reduced rent, plus the landlord lost half a month's rental income.

In my opinion, this agent is far too concerned with their own interests and is willing to sacrifice their clients' well-being to avoid the slightest risk. I would strongly advise others to think twice before dealing with them.

Updated 2023 Apr, addressing their response:

I appreciate your response, but I feel the need to clarify a few points.

1. The issue was not that we struggled with the forms, but that the amount of personal information requested was excessive and unnecessary. As someone who has worked with multiple agencies and is also a landlord, I know that not all of the information requested is mandatory. It is disappointing to shift the blame onto the legislation.

2. The distinction between "working from home" and "using the property as a business office" was not properly understood or acknowledged. During the pandemic, millions of people were working from home without issue. It is difficult to understand how insurance would be voided in this scenario.

3. The reason for the changing language in our communications was due to the inconsistent and illogical responses from your legal team. It was suggested by your staff to rephrase the language to avoid confusion.

4. While you refunded our deposit and no contract was signed, we still lost several thousand pounds due to the disruption of our plans caused by the denial of our application. It is frustrating to hear that our experience was disregarded and dismissed in this manner.

5. It is not accurate to claim that the landlord secured a rental increase. In reality, the rent was reduced by 50 pounds per month and the landlord lost at least half a month's rental income due to the delay in securing a tenant.

6. It is important for businesses to exercise common sense and professionalism when dealing with clients. The distinction between "working from home" and "commercial property" should have been properly understood and acknowledged.
