Love this reserve. It's a great place to see all my favourite birds - kingfishers, bitterns, marsh harriers, hobbies, great white egret, little egret, and many many more. Also good for dragonflies and butterflies

This is a well setup reserve. There is plenty of parking and a visitors centre which is easy to find and has all amenities. The paths around the nature reserve are well maintained and easy to follow. There are photography stations for avid photographers which are in a good location. On the whole, there is a lot to see and will get the kids out for an afternoon. We went to the Big Wild Sleepout, so was able to experience some interesting other events, like bat watching, pond dipping and moth catching. Definitely worth a visit.

A lovely reserve.
Excellent carpark & facilities.
Friendly volunteers & great information given.
The reserve is a nice easy walk. There are slopes & grass tracks but there is also a good walking tracks too.
Lots to see & the path along the river was a lovely walk.

We visited Lakenheath as RSPB members.
A really good walk around the reedbeds. We didn't see anything exotic: the usual array of wildfowl - geese, swan, coot, moorhen, and mallards. We heard the 'plop' of what we think was a water vole as it drops into the water but didn't manage to see it. The insects were starting to show themselves as the sun came out. A really nice walk.
If you come, ensure that you bring a picnic. The RSPB website states 'A delicious selection of hot and cold drinks and pre-packaged cold snacks are available from the Visitor Centre'. We assumed this meant sandwiches - it doesn't, so we filled up on bags of crisps, cakes, and biscuits, of which there was plenty of choice.

When I lived nearby, this was my go-to nature reserve, and the one I liked visiting the most. The reserve had an impressive array of wildlife, from golden orioles to cranes, but, although the orioles are now long extinct in the UK, the cranes have become much easier to see in recent times, even guaranteed at certain periods. This may be the best place in the UK to see bitterns- normally very elusive birds, but they are regular and close from the Mere Hide, and I had many great sightings of them in this way. Lots of cuckoos, a nationally rare and declining bird, live here as well, as well as swarms of hobby falcons. In the winter, beautiful barn owls frequent the marshlands

A great little nature reserve, mixed habitats with extensive Reed beds, Marsh Harriers overhead throughout the day. Several good walks across the site, a small visitor centre with a big welcome but limited range of food.

Excellent place with lots of wildlife a lake and a river.
Great for watching birds, butterflies and interesting insects. There's also muntjac(s) roaming if you'll walk around long enough.

We had a very enjoyable visit here. It's quite a large reserve so there's plenty of walking about. The main attraction seemed to be Mere hide. We were lucky and managed to see a bittern - mainly because the other people in the hide became very excited and a bunch of cameras fired off in burst mode. We also saw sedge warblers, a heron, a few other little birds and heard the cuckoo calling many times. It was also pleasant to walk along the river little Ouse and wend our way round the many poplar trees. Not forgetting the assorted dragonflies and other insects. Couldn't ask for much more really.
