I spoke with Alex Kinrade from Sky Insurance and I must say, I enjoyed our conversation and the outcome. It is extremely rare that one comes across a passionate, professional, understanding and patient insurance representative such as yourself.

You have completely redefined my car insurance renewal experience and I would unreservedly recommend Alex and Sky to everyone, modified or not.

Besides, the insurance quote was very competitive and best of all - tailored to my needs and budget.

I am impressed with the professional service and overall experience of renewing my insurance - so much so that I decided to move to Sky and not renew with my current insurer of 4 years. I have also been assured of a great quote for my second car, which I will be moving over to Sky in a few months' time.

I've been using Safely (formerly Sky) since 2019. They are regularly able to get cheaper - or at least competitive - prices from a reputable insurance company. I'd rather deal with a company that knows its stuff concerning performance and modified vehicles.

A few times I've approached them with cheaper renewal prices from competitors. Each time they have either been able to match or at least compete to the point that switching didn't make much sense.
It would be nice to get the absolute best price the first time, but I am aware that we all have to play the game when it comes to getting the best insurance prices.

I've always found the staff to be helpful and friendly on the end of the phone and don't feel like I'm having unnecessary extras forced on me, but simply made aware of what's available.

I've not yet had an accident while with Safely, so I can only comment on the process of getting a policy and the prices.

Great insurance company. Gave me the best price compared with comparison websites. Customer service is excellent as I felt like I was speaking to a person and not moody robot reading off the screen. I have just renewed with them for the 3rd time. Also when they say they will call back, they do unlike others.

EDIT: i will leave my review as it is below so people can read the past experiences i have had. I forgot my renewal was coming up, i had to shop around as the price had increased slightly - i was provided with a much better quote and interest rate to spread the payments. Sky were "unable" to match the price or even get close to it, first time in 5+ years. Disappointing as i have been with them for quite a while and have moved many family members to them and recommended them to friends. They offered a reduced renewal but refused to send it to me in writing to prove the quote that they had given to my new insurer.

Been with Sky for many years now and was originally attracted by their competitive prices on performance / modified cars. I have stuck with them through a good no. of car changes and have moved a lot of my families and friends policies over too. They insured me on my dads range rover at 25 for only a small amount extra whereas other companies wouldn't even entertain the idea regardless of the fact i had a car of similar value and more power. Naturally i shop around every renewal to get the best deal, sometimes they have been a little bit more but they have always met or bettered the quote to retain the business. I have read quite a few of the reviews on here and from my experience the only bad thing i have experienced is the wait times to get through. That said, i don't feel i would mark them down for this, many insurance companies are the same or worse and once you are through their prices, service and fairness are worth the wait. Thanks

Was promised a call back twice which never happened, I phoned at the end of the day to see whether they had been able to provide a quote on a modified vehicle - they had but never called me with it. I accepted the quote because by this time it was so late in the day, it was my only option as I was on the way to collect the car. I was told they did not have time to generate a quote with my girlfriend on there but I could call back at a later date to add her or cancel the policy.

A few days later I called back to add my girlfriend I’m but was quoted a huge additional premium which I was not expecting, she does not make my other cars more expensive. Thankfully another broker was able to offer a cheaper quote for my partner and I than Sky had quoted for just me so I opted to cancel the policy and sss charged £50 to do so!

I challenged this as just days prior I was told adding my girlfriend on would be quick and easy and if for any reason they could not do it, I could cancel but they refused to reimburse me. It cost me £50 for less than a weeks insurance when the premium for the whole year was only £260 or so. I have NEVER been charged to cancel a policy in the first 14 days let alone when the advisor on the phone gave the impression there would be no charge.

I do still have another vehicle insured with sky that I will not be renewing with them under any circumstance.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

There’s plenty of brokers out there offering the same service which I also have vehicles insured with that value your business far more.

Always the best price. No having to search around at renewal time because they always quote best. All of my cars are with Safely Insured and have been for many years now. Super helpful staff. Won’t hesitate to keep using them for many years to come.

Poor service. Quick enough to take your money but if you have to claim against someone who has hit you they soon palm you off by refusing you a renewal quote due to claiming against a third party. Also, they do not provide a hire car along with lots of hidden extras broken promises of calls etc. I have been with these for around 6 years and well very disappointed with how they mistreat you with the after service. In mid-40s full ncd no claims bonus yet over 1500.00 to 2300.00 on quotes else where claims are still ongoing. You pay for what you get it is cheap for a reason. Service is shocking and the policy's.

Been with Sky for several years with one car and recently moved my second to them thanks to Adrian Flux jacking their prices up by an insane amount. They've always given me a really good price on my cars which are on their performance and modified scheme. Can't speak for general, young driver, or trade policies though.

Customer service is good, staff are usually friendly and treat you like a human rather than a number. Avoid calling at peak times if you can. I think they only have a fairly small number of staff who can come across a bit frazzled or rushed when its busy though still usually more polite and less robotic than other insurers!

I've only had one bad experience where I was waiting to speak to someone for 45 minutes. My other half called after I'd been on hold for 25 minutes and got through before me though it still took her 20 minutes. Once through it was sorted in 5 minutes. Unfortunately I had no choice but to wait as I was on a garage forecourt waiting to drive away in my new car. I had called the previous evening to swap cars but they were funny about setting a timed changed over (understandably) in case the part-ex fell through.

All in all good. 4/5 stars due to occasional long wait times and problems they've had with their payment systems in the past.
