Customer service is truly abysmal. Call waiting times have ranged from 40 to 67 minutes before speaking to someone. The information I got was ridiculous and didn’t make sense. Moved to emailing. They waited 7 days to verify my email and now I’m waiting another 7 days for the response to the initial email. Aside from that I have not been happy throughout my agreement with them and would advise you avoid.

DO NOT AGREE A LEASE WHERE THIS COMPANY IS USED.

Hidden in their T&Cs is the fact that they will charge you an Admin fee for paying any fines, PCNs, etc. They will pay them, and then let you know you've received it, thereby "accepting liability" on your behalf, and making it almost impossible to appeal.

They will claim it's to stop any escalation in the fine, even if there is still 3 weeks before payment due date. Seeing as they email you their receipt, and the fine, there is no delay and it is clear the sole purpose of this is to be able to charge you and make more money.

Worth noting, they will do this whether the finenis valid or not, legal or not, and the charge of £30 does not change, even if the "fine" is £2.50.

Absolute thievery, making consumers lives difficult, all to line their pockets and give their boses a better payout.

Got into arrears due to a direct debit not being set up, never being able to get through to anyone on the phone. Over a hour wait with multiple tries to then get a text message saying are you trying to get hold of us, go online! Finally got through to someone today and I told him I can never get through to them for him to say well never mind your through now that's all that matters. Ummm no it does matter when you've got solicitors calling you as you can't make payments to them as wven doing it online says to contact them!!!!!!

Absolute horrible response time to customer queries. I rang them up about an outstanding finance that remained on a car i just bought. Waited for over 1 and a half hour on the call, a woman picked up and ended the call within 10 seconds. Absolute vile piece of customer service

One thing for sure is that I wish I had never taken my car finance out with Santander Consumer Finance UK, their only concern is getting their money, regardless of what is going on with their customers.
I've contacted them over the last 2 or so months as I have got into financial difficulty and need their help, all they were concerned about was getting a payment plan in place and kept pushing me for more information about my circumstances even though I had already been open and honest.
In the end they refused to set up a payment plan and have told me I will just have to pay whenever I can, but to still expect letters, phone calls and text messages. I informed them that I am disabled with cognitive issues and that constantly receiving these communications would stress me out and make my health worse and they said they still needed to do it anyway.

I’m disgusted in lack of customer service and the need to do anything hasty!
I’ve had nothing but issues such as rude staff, we will email the right dept and they will contact you Still nothing, emails saying basically look it up on webpage, the inability to achieve any outcome!

Read other reviews - same exact thing repeated, awful customer service (the worst i have ever experienced), 3x months to progress a complaint with a brand new car and no resolution, rude staff, miss-selling etc.

Do not go with them for car finance if there is anyway you can avoid it.

Poor company hard to get hold of and when you very rude and unhelpful and unprofessional would not recommend. I called at 3.30 and still on hold at 5pm without speaking to anybody waste of time. Can’t give half a star and wouldn’t give them that anyway
