It's such an amazing building and reading the history surrounding it.I'm surprised it's still here. There are some fantastic architectural features, some stunning tombs, and the stained glass windows are amazing. You can easily spend an hour or two looking around. We parked in Micklegate car part in the centre of town was £1.80 for.3 hours literally minutes walk to the Abbey. If you feel peckish, they have a cafe on site that supports the upkeep of the Abbey. It's absolutely worth a look & we'll be back.

Lovely weekend destination! We drove from Leeds took about 40min. Plenty of low-charged parking nearby in walking distance. The Abbey is free, some donations and a little cafe inside. If you want to explore a centuries-old heritage site, never miss this!

Must see when around Selby area. FREE admission although you can donate. Café and toilets instead. Lots of information and an amazing building. Sometimes helpers around to tell you about the history.

Selby Abbey... Grimethorpe Colliery Band....very professional sounding Band....the sound quality in the Abbey was excellent. Lovely architecture to admire whilst listening and a biscuit and nice cuppa as well....or a pint if you wanted one.

A beautiful Abbey. Did the tour, so I know a lot about its history now. The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Good coffee shop there too. Very good all round.

It is a beautiful building and signs invite visitors to come and look around. There are information notices all around and several areas where you can light a candle for a small donation. There is also a small shop and cafe area (very reasonably priced) and toilets. There was a photographic exhibition, and we were invited to vote for our three favourites with a chance to win our first favourite. It was a very enjoyable visit.

Selby Abbey was founded in 1069 and is a fantastic medieval church. The volunteers were able to show us some of the fascinating features and history of the church. It is the most impressive church i have visited. A notable feature is the Washington window featuring the coat of arms of the family of the first president of the usa. A gide book is available in the gift shop and cafe.

Interesting Abbey to visit, nearly a thousand years of History. Superb building, lots of information to read about it's History. There's a small cafe bar in the Abbey for teas coffees,fruited tea cakes,scones, biscuits. Very friendly staff and also souvenirs to buy. It has toilets and is disabled friendly. You can also make small cash or card donations.
