This morning was incredibly good to me! I went to visit my friend in Chartham and while waiting for her I have decided to walk around and take some pictures of the church as the morning was frosty and beautiful. While taking last photos and slowly leaving the ground of the church I heard someone calling me and asking if I would like to take some pictures of the church from the inside. The gentleman's name was Allan and he told me the story of the church Patron Sir Robert de Septvans and some other amazing history of this church . I've never been in St Mary's Church before so my excitement was truly growing to see this Decorated Gothic style favoured in the 13th & 14th centuries. That was an amazing morning which I'll treasure forever. If you are in the area please visit it's definitely worth it! Thanks to Allan( hope this is correct spelling of his name)who was my priceless tour guide this morning❤️

This is a pleasant Medieval church with it's high vaulted wooden beams and some of the best stain glass windows that can be seen in a rural church. It comes under the dioceses of Canterbury Cathedral and is very accessible for those with and without a religious leaning. If you are a keen 'Brass Rubbing' enthusiast St Mary's has a large brass of the medieval knight, Sir Robert de Septvans and is one of the oldest known brass in the country. St Mary's is situated next to a classic country green and next the the river Stour, which brought the Romans to Canterbury from the Deal coastline. St Mary's is still a very popular with the villagers as it hold may events from weekly tea and coffee as well as meal on certain days to help the older and younger members of Chartham and the surrounding villages keep in contact. St Mary's also does music lunches and puts on Art exhibitions. Set in some of the loveliest countryside Kent and Britain can offer and there is a excellent pathway alongside the Stour which will take you right-into Canterbury. All in all, well worth a visit.
