Hello, Nick Dawe, Chief of Operations – and prospective customers

The Co-Operative bank mortgages in Plymouth are not cooperative at all.

They have reached stratospheric heights of incompetence.

They pronounce a DX ‘old and unused’ one day, only to find it magically working the next.

No line manager or a single member of a senior team is ever responsible enough to talk to us.

It seems like the people who do talk to us are incentivised to do nothing. To be deliberately unhelpful.

We have lost tens of thousands of pounds.

All you had to do was get our deeds over to the Land Registry. You couldn’t even do that.

I would advise anyone who is thinking of getting a mortgage at this place to try somewhere else. Like the zoo. Or an aquarium.

Primitive sponges would be more helpful.

Cannot set up power of attorney properly, despite 2 visits to branch and over 6 months of call centre hell. BTW Lloyds sorted the other account in 3 days! Absolutely useless bank, antiquated systems, do not answer the phone. Avoid !

What can I say Jasmine the cashier really needs training in customer service and care along with her manager. Jasmine was very argumentative and made my family member’s anxiety exacerbate due to her being rude for no reason this is the second time she has done this and the branch manager was not interested. I would definitely recommend using a different bank which we have now sorted thankfully. If any luck higher up management will sort it out but I am very doubtful hence I decided to leave this review to warn others.

Need to discuss important issue with my mortgages. Tried to call last week and waited 3 hours and 20 minutes before my phone ran out of battery, tried again today (1 hour 50 minutes) didn't get through. Told via Co-Op Facebook messenger they are too busy and try again Monday
(I cannot waste another 3 Hours)
How can it be this difficult to call and speak to someone, I have been a customer for many years.
You cannot email them an enquiry but you can email a complaint!!!

Didn't wait long to be taken for my appointment. Ladies there are always smiling and helpful. Good atmosphere and a pleasure to use. Miles away from how it used to be when people hated seeing their bank managers. Now it is a joy to enter the building. So different than 60years ago!!!ʘ⁠‿⁠ʘ

Annoying when you have to ring 1 national main switchboard to make an appointment at your local branch,
But once local contact is made, Service is brilliant and you can talk to a human being.

Claire and Gemma dealt with my enquiry as fast as the computer would deal with it at the Plymouth branch.
Computer was quick but these two Ladies were quicker.

Bank is fine if you don’t need telephone support. Their opening hours (8:00 am - 6:00 pm during the week) make it difficult for those like myself who work 9-5 to contact them. I mainly rely on their app and automated telephone system but need to speak to an advisor this time - I held on for 53 minutes before being disconnected at 6:00 pm. Will have to try again tomorrow in my lunch hour but, in the long term, will be looking to transfer my account to another bank
