We stayed for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year, just 3 weeks into the new ownership. We were greeted by a family member and had a lovely evening meal there. Grassington was fabulous with its Christmas lights and decorated shop windows. The Foresters is tired but full of charm and character, good luck with the renovations. Sunday breakfast was superb, Monday breakfast was a DIY affair with no owners present. The bed lacked mattress protection, there was hardly enough hot water and the carpets were grubby. Overall we were disappointed but will return for a pint and a meal to see how it is being upgraded.

I have been using the Foresters for about the last 12 years for two night stays at least once or twice a year so was interested to hear that it has just changed hands...Rita [landlady] and her team have always looked after me impeccably....and I wish you well Rita with your health and retirement....yes, it may be a little tired round the edges but that almost contributed to it being a good old Yorkshire pub....food, beer 5* ...good luck to the new owners....I'll be back...with my [not] smelly dog !

Built in approximately 1680. It's old so don't expect a modern hotel. It is 5 Star for what it is. Clean and well cared for and a good value. Great food and amazing friendly service. There are plenty of locals in and out of the bar making it a real authentic Yorkshire pub l. It's a family run place and we really enjoyed chatting with the landlord (owner). There was an incredible young lady who was helping out her family serving meals and cooking breakfast. She was a joy to talk to and really exemplifies how wonderful the Yorkshire people are. We are definitely saying there next time we are in town.

My partner and I have just returned from a Bank Holiday night away here. |On arrival our booking was misplaced due to booking via Booking.com, but the owner Phil soon sorted us out and apologised for the inconvenience. |We stayed in room 14 (see pics for further info).|This is a very friendly pub with a lovely warm welcome atmosphere. |The Breakfast is amazing and includes locally sourced ingredients. |We also had dinner and that too was lovely. |We both had the Steak and Ale pie and it’s was delicious. |We sampled other beers in the other pubs but this one was the best and the cheapest. |If you want a lovely country pub with a comfy bed, good food and a friendly atmosphere, then this is the place. |The staff are all friendly and helpful.

Don't let some of the previous reviews put you off staying here. The Foresters Arms is a genuine Yorkshire pub with a big heart. A lick of paint or a new carpet doesn't make for a better establishment! The welcome was warm, the staff were all fantastic, the food was great, the variety of drinks available was extensive especially for a rural pub and our rooms were lovely. Yes the stair carpet going up to the rooms is shabby, but it's very in keeping with the building. It's very reminiscent of "All creatures great and small" and there's plenty to read on the history of the building in the original pictures hanging on the walls of the corridors. Everywhere was clean, great showers, comfortable beds, bathrooms much bigger than ones found in flashy hotels, brilliant dinners & breakfasts. The Foresters Arms isn't pretending to be something superficial and false just to attract tourists, it is a real Yorkshire pub & inn and what makes Yorkshire so fantastic are it's people and it's location. The Foresters Arms are abundant in both of these. We loved its ambience so much that we elected to stay another night there. And to have another double black cherry gin & white lemonade! Thanks ladies, I got a bottle for home?

I've been visiting grassington for over 30 years. All the pubs are amazing, great atmosphere and lovely food. But the foresters is 100% the BEST food you can get in grassington. A real locals pub, the atmosphere is so welcoming. We had the best meal of our whole holiday there tonight. All home cooked food and you can tell! Full of flavour which you don't get anywhere else. The bar staff and landlord are great. Thanks for a lovely night.

Best yet. I had slow roasted pork and my wife had lambs liver with bacon and both were absolutely delicious. Good selection of beers all at good prices. The staff were excellent and really went out of their way and the locals were friendly and chatty. Loved it here.

Booked a table, thinking it would be in the dining room, but we were shown to a tiny round grubby table in a corner. Next to us was a very smelly dog, we really should have left.||The lady who served us our food was lovely and friendly, the food was just ok.||The man behind the bar was abrupt and unfriendly. The 2 Timothy Taylor beers were off, so a poor substitute was supplied. ||The place was dowdy and dirty looking in need to a huge refurbishment. ||We left very quickly after our meal.||It was a poor experience, such a shame in such a beautiful village.
