The welcome was great, couldn't do enough for us. Bed comfy, bedding nice. Had 3 actual beds for us which was great. Thr room was really nice with wooden beams. Nice and warm, very quiet.||Bathroom nice and modern. Very clean room. Will definitely stay again.

Saturday evening… the place was empty… said it all. Had pre booked for a party of 11. The room was cold, fire broken and had to ask for the heating to be turned on. Then informed only a limited menu… no Grill or Lasagne. Could have informed us before so we could make a choice whether to still go or not. Waited over an hour for food and still no sight. Complained to the “Manager’ who had no customer service skills and was rude. Said it wasn’t his fault and blamed Marstons! No apology. Gave us the option of waiting longer or leaving …. we left. Dreadful experience and if this is the best Marstons can do, incompetent staff, etc…then this beautiful village country pub will surely not last. And that would be a shame, it has so much potential with correct management.

Still disappointing. We booked for a meal for 7 recently. On arrival told that there was no hand pulled ales available.|Thursday night, steak night, so guess what no steaks, no gammon, no fish!|We are local and have frequented the Griffin for over 30 years, on and off.|Recent tenants have done the pub no favours, and I am not sure the present manager can pull this round.|Maybe it is a Marstons problem with the beer and the food?|The village does not want to lose the pub but it is quite obvious that trade is slow.|I do not begin to know what the answer is, but improvements are needed.||Oh and the WiFi didn't work!

We only booked this as it was described as a bed and breakfast with a beautiful menu.
Eating at our lodgings was an absolute priority as I'm very ill and require full meals to take my medication, or I get very sick very quickly.
There was no food available at all. No breakfast or dinner. No small snacks. Nothing that was advertised online.
The previous managers apparently had run off, meaning the kitchen was out of service. We were not informed of this prior to our arrival.
We had booked months in advance. An email letting us know if this change of circumstance with the property would have really helped us make arrangements. Instead, we were not informed and I ended up being incredibly unwell.

The worst possible experience ever! I'm well travelled lady and never came across such rudness! The 11 of us booked a table for 5pm. Upon arrival we were ushered to a dining area which was freezing cold. The birthday girl asked for the heating to be put on. After a while we were able to take our coats off. After a while the manger came and told us that 5 dishes out of the menu was not available! After a little consternation we've ordered our food. An hour later..no food or any apology from the manger. The birthday girl went and ask ...and was told "you either wait or leave" !!! She was also told that we were rude from the start..I guess he was referring to us asking for the heating. We were all in good spirits, happy to support the birthday girl local. After 10/15 minutes later we left very dissatisfied and disappointed.
On what merits the manger was hired we will never know. His appearance and attitude left a lot to desire. One thing for sure, he has a lot to learn if at all possible.
NB. The beer was cloudy and tastless.

Such a shame about the recent decline, I used to go when visiting family in the area but sadly will be finding somewhere alternative. I don't think being snarled at when asking for a clean glass is acceptable and god forbid his reaction if I asked for the drink to be garnished. The toilets needed attention also.It felt like our custom wasn't wanted, such a shame. I think the brewery need to step in before another great pub is lost forever.
