If I could give 0 stars, that's what I would give. The receptionists who book the appointments are very rude. I'm disgusted with the attitude they give you. If they are not happy in the job, they should find another one. The GP manager needs to listen to the calls on how they speak to patients!!! Even when you visit the surgery, they are so miserable and do the bare minimum. I now hate booking or visiting the surgery as I just can't deal with how ignorant they are.

I had an awful experience at this clinic. The doctors seem uninterested in seeing patients face-to-face, which raises serious concerns about how they can prescribe medication without a proper examination. The receptionist is shockingly rude and unprofessional, making you feel unwelcome from the moment you walk in. It’s clear that patient care is not a priority here, and the lack of basic respect is unacceptable. This practice desperately needs staff who actually care about the people they’re supposed to be helping. Avoid if possible.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to make an appointment even with the triage system. Appointments made are moved at short notice to other surgeries. Paperwork and referrals are not followed up. I shall be moving my family elsewhere.

Each interaction with this place brings on severe heart palpitations - even the thought of having to try to contact them makes me feel ill. Thank God it has not been anything serious - if it was this practice could be a severe liability as it is impossible to contact them and they do not seem to take the initiative with care or to give timely and prompt feedback. I had not realised how lucky I had been with my previous surgery - I took it for granted that I could phone a doctor and get an appointment - even in a VERY busy practice. This is because I have had the total and absolute luxury of being a patient at The Abbey Surgery in Tavistock - a large practice similar to this one with a similar catchment area. This surgery absolutely need to go there to visit and to LEARN.
The first thing that happened was that my partner needed to have a routine health check - I thought HE was being evasive as he kept saying he could not get an appointment. Turns out he wasn't being avoidant but the surgery was. Even when he did finally get an appointment after filling out a twelve page form and HOURS and HOURS on hold he was not given an appointment for any blood tests. It took about a year all in all to get simple blood tests done. Even then there was no feedback and no results. It also turns out that a simple cholesterol check had not been done! Turns out this was apparently my husband's fault - which triggered real warning signs in me of an inability to take responsibility for their own problems. At the moment we are trying to get an appointment for my stepson. We have just come off the phone after 30 minutes being on hold only to be told that appointments can only be made online... There was no recorded message - so we were made to wait 30 minutes to be told this. We also want another urgent appointment for ASAP but we have to start the WHOLE 12 page online form process again for each one - so totally nonsensical and such a waste of time.

Absolutely awful service. It’s impossible to get an appointment tried from Oct to January because my father was poorly. Appointments made with printout confirmation and then no appointment on their system when you go. Many triage forms on their online system said they were posted but never activated on the system. Got an appointment finally when my sister broke down in tears in reception and told them I think my dad’s dying while we wait for an appointment from you. Finally my dad became so ill I took him to A&E and he has terminal cancer. Same experience when my mum had a terminal disorder and the experience was so awful my sister and I still suffer from stress about those memories. The Dr’s are nice but you can’t get past their reception to see them. Avoid if you can.

After 34 years with this surgery, once again they went above and beyond today. I was given an emergency appointment, the nurse squeezed me in for a blood test while gp spoke to hospital, within an hour I was in hospital having more tests. The GP called me twice while I was in hospital to see how I was. Brilliant, thanks all round to the receptionist, the nurse and the GP.

Since covid and Dr Melling being absent, this surgery has become terrible to deal with. I had a phone appointment this morning at 8.30, which never happened. On calling to find out why, I was told the appointment was this coming Friday. Apparently it wasn't moved but I know it was moved as I wrote it down on my calendar the moment I made it!!!! This is the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened and they infer that it's MY mistake!!! Will be moving to a different surgery as soon as I can, we only really stayed because of Dr Melling and he's unfortunately absent from there now 😔
