I reached out to The People's Pension team this afternoon, to verify my understanding of how my pension pot was doing.
Whilst initially I was communicating with a computer. after this initial exchange of ID, I was able to communicate with a very polite, and very knowledgeable human being.
Well done The People's Pension. Nothing beats that human contact.
Would I recommend The People's Pension = 100% any day!

Auto enrolled into a pension with these guys and trying to get out is like trying to draw blood from a stone.

Edit: spoke to someone today who was far more helpful than last time and I was actually able to understand them (perfect level of English). Took about 5 minutes to sort it out and have now opted out. Will update review again once it's complete.

The initial transfer in of another private pension went smoothly. I was told it should complete within 30 days and if it didn't they'd contact me. I'd heard nothing after 40 days so checked and found the transfer in hadn't completed due to an issue with the other provider, which they hadn't told me about. I'm now chasing up with the other company but I've lost two weeks due to me expecting the People's Pension not contacting me when they said they would. Also on a separate point, their feedback side isn't user-friendly. There's no clear instructions how to proceed so I had just had to work it out by trial and error.

Run a mile from this outfit but if you have a workplace pension you probably won't get a say in the matter.

Daughter requested a pension transfer. Was asked to quote customer or policy number, she quoted customer number. Months later People's Pension contacted NEST to say they couldn't locate the policy under that number. Surprise, surprise it is a customer not policy number. She has been told that customer number isn't always enough as there can be multiple policies under one customer number and so they would need the specific policy number. Maybe before replying with this tripe the staff should check the members account to see if this is actually the case. My daughter only had one policy and so customer number should have sufficed. Incompetent or just being awkward as business being transferred away from them. Doesn't really matter but processes need to change to prevent this happening again. I know they won't sadly.

I’ve had some dealings with other pension providers and can say with some certainty that these are the worst by a country mile. Try and transfer a pension. I started 8 weeks, yes 8 weeks ago. They prevaricate, they ask for more information, you provide it and then they ask for additional information and then you hear nothing and still they won’t transfer my pot. The name is a joke because they’re not working for the People just themselves - a joke company

As an employer we have used this company for a couple of years but have had no end of trouble with them for the last 12 months. They invoice random amounts each month, then write to us saying we have not paid our contributions when we have the bank records showing we have, we call the atrocious customer service team and they can’t provide a statement or any explanation other than ‘it’s an issue with the computers’. This is a scam company (or a company going bust) that I am currently reporting to the Pensions Regulator. AVOID

I Sent an email last week informing them that my wife had passed away still had no response, I’m not surprised as they did the same thing when my son passed away. Don’t expect them to contact me the next day but you would think that after 7 days somebody would have had the decency to get in touch with me, I also don’t expect them to sort my wife’s pension out anytime soon. Worst pension company I’ve ever had to deal with I’m only glad that none of mine have got nothing to do with them.

God help you if you need to get your money out.

Not sure how they get away with it, I genuinely have no words to describe how poor my experience with this company has been.

My advice; stay away. If you've already been enrolled, start the process of transferring to another provider as soon as possible.
