I have been a loyal member of the RAC for many years and have never had the need to utilize their services until yesterday. After attending the Steelhouse Live Festival, a three-day rock festival in South Wales, I returned to my car, packed it up, and attempted to start it, but unfortunately, it would not start. I promptly contacted the RAC through their app, and within two hours, Daryl, ID 1876, came to our aid. He swiftly diagnosed the issue and replaced my battery free of charge due to my battery cover insurance. Thanks to Daryl's expertise, we were back on the road in no time. Daryl demonstrated the utmost professionalism, politeness, and clarity in explaining the situation. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the RAC for providing such exceptional service.?

Please do not take out a policy with RAC breakdown cover.
They’ve left myself a disabled man for 10 hours at the side of a road near Swindon with my van and rang back up, saying that they can’t recover the van because it’s to long but I took the policy out for that van it doesn’t make sense. Why not tell me that when I rang at 9:14am this morning for recovery. The company is a joke stay well clear. Because you pay for a service you don’t get so don’t waste your time or money!!!!!
I last spoke with rac at 4.49pm a man telling me my vans to big to recover bearing in mind I’ve already been told by rac 2 different times recovery’s on its way ‍♂️
I then asked to speak to someone higher up he replied I’ll have to give you a call back in a few minutes….. still sat in the van in the same spot waiting for my phone call back and still no recovery ? it’s now 8:52pm still haven’t had my refrigerated medicine for my chronic bone disease / bowel disease which they was told about when I first rang up at 9:14am this morning such terrible service they should all be ashamed !!!!!

Broke down at 1pm, they took 3 hours to send a third party recovery which told us they could have been there quicker, what took you so long to organise it? We were then told we would have a courtesy car at the service station when we get dropped there as our car was going to have to be held in storage and unavailable to be towed back, which there was none. Sat at the service station 5 hours completely stranded, everytime we rang you kept going around in circles saying we would get a call for a taxi back home or get provided a courtesy car which we never got a single phonecall for 5 hours. We got offered a taxi 2 hours in the opposite direction for a courtesy car 4 hour drive back home when they could have provided us a 1 and a half hour taxi back home? Something seriously wrong with the management here and it clearly shows by all the other reviews

Extremely Frustrated with RAC Breakdown Service

I’m beyond disappointed with RAC’s service today. This morning, I received a message saying that the towing service would arrive between 8 AM and 12 PM. Around 12 PM, I got another message saying there would be a 2-3 hour delay. I patiently waited, but by 3 PM, they still hadn't arrived, and the repair shop was about to close.

I took a day off work specifically for this, and now I've wasted an entire day of leave. I wasn't able to accomplish anything today because I was stuck waiting all day. This level of service is completely unacceptable.

I have been a member for 24 years and have called them out twice, once when I left my keys in boot ,it was at my home, I didn't have home cover and because of that I got a £80.00 charge. The other time it was Winter I my battery was flat. I noticed the cost has been rising year on year. This year the increase was the last rise for me so I cancelled my membership
I asked why the cost keeps going up,and by so much it's for technology ,yes that's improving? You have to do everything online instead of human contact
I have now Joined the AA and for half the cost

I recently had a terrible experience with RAC. Despite my best efforts to cancel my membership within the 14-day cooling-off period, they still charged me an administration fee of £11.10. They did not send the policy documents until the last possible moment, leaving no time to review the terms properly.

To make matters worse, their customer service tried calling me multiple times, which felt like an attempt to avoid addressing my concerns in writing. Despite their terms and conditions promising a refund, they have not refunded me.

This company appears to be fraudulent and takes advantage of its customers by not providing clear and timely information. I strongly advise against taking a membership with RAC. Save yourself the hassle and find a more transparent and trustworthy service provider.

Absolutely horrific experience with RAC. My husband waited on the hard shoulder of the M5 with no shelter for 10 hours in the blistering sun. His phone ran out of battery at hour 5 so I was having to call on his behalf before a police officer stopped and allowed him to charge his phone. We were promised multiple times that someone would be with him within 45 minutes. In the end we cancelled the call out and paid a private company to tow us home at 10pm as no garages were open.
Only for an RAC private contractor to arrive at the same time because RAC hadn’t cancelled him.
Absolute shambles for such a well renowned company. Would never recommend.

Just been told I need to wait 3.5 - 5 hours for a breakdown recovery which is a capital city feels ridiculous. This is the second time this has happened with this sort of timeframe. Completely unacceptable and I will be returning to Green Flag. Do not get your breakdown cover from The RAC!
