I urgently caution potential renters against dealing with TMS Management Solutions in Derby. My experience has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Due to personal reasons, I was unable to visit the property in person and relied on a virtual video tour provided by TMS. This video grossly misrepresented the actual condition of the property, which I discovered only upon my physical inspection.
The issues were severe: widespread mould hidden beneath the flooring, cupboards lacking handles, a window shutter covered in dirt and old chewing gum, and kitchen appliances like the stove and oven both rusty and filthy. The entire flat was dusty and generally neglected. It was so bad, stepping into the flat felt like going back to the Victorian era—only I was half expecting to catch some dreadful disease carried by miasma, not just the musty smell of mould!
Furthermore, despite explaining my inability to visit in person, TMS required advance payment of the first month's rent to secure the property. After seeing the numerous discrepancies and the property's actual dismal state, they still refused to refund any portion of the rent. Fortunately, I finally managed to receive my deposit back.
It would have been fair and reasonable for TMS to provide additional pictures or honest details about the property’s condition. Their failure to do so, coupled with their general lack of responsiveness and accountability, underscores my belief that TMS is one of the worst letting agents in Derby. Please consider other options to avoid similar disappointments.
