Fantastic location to hire surfboards, bodyboards or SUPs on flatter days. Tom’s also have wetsuits for hire, and a shop with all you need for a surf - including wax, Sun Bum sunscreen, leashes, fins, Volcom wetsuits, and also both new and pre-owned surfboards for purchase. They can help you sell your board if you’re looking to upgrade, and they can also arrange surfboard repairs for any accidental dings! Downend itself has a great vibe where you’ll meet some of the nicest local surfers and visitors at the nearby beach cafe. Come down and see for yourself!

5 stars all the way. Just a stone's throw from the shop to the water and for a reasonable price.
Even when it was flat calm, I could hire a paddleboard and explore the coast. They let me know what was safe and away you go.
And when you get back you are right next to your car and can have food and drink right there!
Will be back soon.

Tom is incredibly helpful and personable. He has great options for surf hire and is happy to help. Also happy to be flexible with timings and board use etc to ensure you have a good time. Right by the beach with facilities to change and toilets etc, also next to a cracking place to eat. I’ll be going back to hire from Tom’s Surf Hire next time I’m in Devon
