Be cautious about banking with Triodos. I was gifted a significant amount of money from family that mistakenly got sent to my closed Triodas bank account. It took several months for Triodas to release these funds and initially they said they didn't have the money. They ignored our bank provider's multiple requests to release these funds. Thankfully my current bank provider gave us advice / lingo to persist with getting these funds transferred but it took several months. I thought Triodos was an ethical bank but from speaking to my current bank provider, other people have also experienced this with them.

The new cards issued don't have things like account number and bank number name on them etc so I don't know which ones to use as I don't deal with cards a lot as I mainly use online services and pre-planned payments. There should be referenced information of what the numbers mean. This is really frustrating.

Customer services are not trained to figure out the World Wide pay option when e-mailing but are on the telephone. Why is the pay limited to a year? Why is Europe ok but not Worldwide as I deal with an American company as a transation usage when paying online. I like the ethos but a few things could be improved.

I chose them for the ethics, but very happy with their service too. Had to arrange things due to a move from UK to NL and it was easy to get knowledgeable, helpful and efficient staff on the phone.

Beware of Triodos Bank: Unjust Account Blockage and Refusal to Release Funds

I regret to inform potential customers about the appalling experience I've had with Triodos Bank. My relationship with this bank has quickly turned into a nightmare as they have arbitrarily blocked my account, withholding access to my hard-earned funds amounting to £11,000.

The origins of these funds are crystal clear: they derive from my personal PayPal account, a fact I have diligently proven to Triodos Bank with an abundance of evidence. Despite providing more documentation than necessary to establish ownership, the bank remains obstinate, refusing to release my funds.

Their lack of cooperation and utter disregard for customer satisfaction is deeply concerning. Not only have they failed to provide a valid reason for the account blockage, but they've also shown a complete disregard for my financial well-being. It's as if they're holding my money hostage without any just cause.

I implore anyone considering banking with Triodos to think twice. This institution cannot be trusted to handle your finances responsibly. If they can unjustly block my account and withhold my funds despite overwhelming evidence of ownership, they can do it to anyone.

Triodos Bank, consider this your final warning: Release my funds within the next week, or I will have no choice but to escalate this matter with my legal team. It's unacceptable for a bank to wield such power over its customers without accountability or transparency.

In conclusion, steer clear of Triodos Bank unless you want to risk being treated unfairly and having your hard-earned money unlawfully withheld.

I have been waiting for 2 month for a resolution of a claim after sending some money to the wrong account as Triodos didn't secure my transfer checking the match of the name and account number and now, they are taking off my overdraft after I have been made redundant and they know that too... More stress added! I joined Triodos because of the ethical moral of use of the interest but I don't think they have the same moral for the customers.

Brilliant ethical credentials (e.g. Ethical Consumer Best Buy) and good variety of products on offer (e.g. current account, cash ISA, stocks and shares ISA etc). The app is clear and easy to use. Really impressed with this organisation

We banked with Triodos for a couple of years and whilst we agree with their ethics, the efficiency of their services (including mobile / online banking) is very poor. We’d find contactless payments would fail c.50% of the time, that “faster payments” weren’t fast at all (to the point we didn’t use Triodos for any important payment), the mobile app was poor (you often get emails saying “secure message” but you can only read that by using the full online site, not the mobile site). Finally, when we closed our current account we couldn’t access the money in our saving accounts for a month, because they hadn’t thought to include in their account closure process a notification to ask for new nominated account details. On ringing customer service we were advised we had to send a physical letter, signed, via snail mail, to rectify this! The processes they use are out of date and clunky. Overall we had a poor experience banking with Triodos and the fact they charge you £3 a month for such a poor service is astonishing. We moved to another bank 6 months ago and haven’t had a contactless payment fail since.

Opening an account was simple and from pressing the send button to being approved took about 30 minutes. There are some little quirks with the app but it's more a matter of finding stuff for the first time than any real problem. The internet banking is good (it looks like you have to use a desktop to get full access to all the services - the mobile app gives you just the basics). The account switching service was as pain free as the smooth talking adverts on the TV say it will be. All in all I am very happy that I have moved to an ethical bank. I have not had to contact a human at any part of the process so cannot say how good things would be if something went wrong.

2 months later - gone from 5 stars to 1 stars. Following an app update (android) I now cannot use the mobile app which means I cannot log into internet banking either. Luke many others, I have found that the facial recognition just does not work. As a result I have had lots of interaction with Triodos humans by phone and they are all lovely, helpful and friendly. However, they have not been able to solve the issues so I am now in the process of swapping over to Monzo - what a shame that Triodos can't sort their tech out as having a fully ethical bank account was really great.
