Unfortunately I had to put at least one star….

I moved into a rental property managed by Wards with my mum and two young boys just two weeks before Christmas. The house itself was fine, and we even met the landlord, who was lovely and kind enough to give us moving-in gifts.

Tragically, on December 30th, my mum passed away unexpectedly. She was the sole tenant responsible for the rent, and beyond the financial aspect, I couldn’t bear to stay in the house without her—it was too painful. In such a devastating situation, I hoped for some understanding and compassion from Wards. Unfortunately, that was far from the case.

Instead of any empathy, I was met with rudeness, cold responses, and aggressive emails. While I understand policies and contracts, there was no effort from Wards to offer any reasonable support or flexibility. My sister continued paying rent because they refused to allow an early release, but their lack of basic human decency throughout this ordeal has been appalling.

I had heard negative things about Wards before, but experiencing it firsthand has been shocking. Their handling of this situation has been disgraceful, and the way their manager, Laura Fowler, and her team treated me during such a difficult time is beyond unacceptable.

I would never recommend Wards to anyone, and I sincerely hope others don’t have to endure them.
